Looks like i'm replacing my head gasket tomorrow then brilliant :L yeah the temperature has been much higher than usual. I'll defo buy a genuine one I did when I replaced my top end not risking it with a cheapy one.

check the head that its flat by smearing oil on it an putting the head put it flat on a piece of glass check the oil smear to see it covers everywhere where the gasket will be . for the skimming you can do it yourself attach the head to a drill via a socket an the spark plug put some grindin paste on your surface some fine grinding paste on a completly flat clean surface . an spin the head on the drill at a slow speed keeping the head flat against your surface
personally mine have been ok without skims an iv blown a coolant cap many of time buyin up cheapy white gaskets before i learnt yours will probably fix with just a good quality gasket too
well done nev you beat me typing that up there only cos my takeaways just arrived mind lol

So I rode my bike to college this morning and realised there was liquid dripping underneath my bike, got home and filled up the coolant and replaced the engine oil and it's still dripping. Does anyone know if the coolant pipe from the radiator to the overflow tank runs through the frame? Cause I think I might have a hole in my frame by where the sidestand is which could be the dripping. Any help will be greatly appreciated, need to use my bike this week and don't want to keep buying coolant :(.
there is a pipe running from the top of the rad to the expansion bottle then there's a overflow pipe that runs into the frame runs down the inside to the bottom and out the bottom.
check the coolant for a rainbow effect if its coming from the overflow its most likely the head gasket has gone
usually a sign the head gasket gone m8 itll still work you just gotta keep topping it up, but obviously its best to sort it out by replacing the head gasket soon as poss
as they say the expansion tank overflowing, water by the swingarm anywhere, maybe routed somewhere other than mine tho
And you haven't noticed the temperature going up mate?
Good way to see if it's the head gasket. Have a look at the radiator. Put your fingers in there. If you've got loads of black oil on your hands then it's head gasket.
You'll want to skim the head and barrel and make sure you buy GENUINE HEAD GASKET!
Also if you've been running it with no coolant then you'll most likely warp the head.
It may or may not need skimming Threadsta, depending on whether or not your heads become warped due to the heat, a way I use to check if a head is warped or not is to get a piece of glass or Perspex then smear some oil onto the glass, then place the head on the glass, look from the underneath at where a gasket would sit on the head and see if theres a continual ' gasket'so to speak, if its broken anywhere it means the heads warped, if not, then you're lucky.another way is to use a straight edge on the head, but that's only visual and not as good as the oil testing way, Btw when you do come to replace the gasket and you've torqued the head down to the correct settings, give it a blast for a few miles say 10-15, then re-torque the head down again.
Oh I know what you mean by skimming now! Thanks for all the help guys, i'll check if it's warped tomorrow and skim it if it is. And i'm quite happy to take it for a 10/15 min blast ;) do the nuts come a bit loose after riding or something? Anyone know if halfords will have genuine gaskets?
Didn't think they would :/ I need to be back on the road asap though, i'll go down to fowlers tomorrow they'll definitely have one. Nice signature pic btw reef!;)
Not sure really was home from college about 11 to start. Got the panels, seat, tank off then spent some time cleaning my 2 stroke tank. Then had to go out and buy the gasket. Finished about 3 but did other things during.
Doing the same thing again, finished fixing it this afternoon for the 3rd time and it broke again on the way back from work 10 mins ago. What happens is whenever I go over 5/6 thousand revs it starts cutting out and I can keep it running if I rev it higher but when it dies it will start straight after. I think it might not be igniting properly or something? I've taken the plug out and it's covered in petrol.
