Well I got bored today so I've started installing a forum on some hosting space I have (needed a little extra for another site I have so worked out well).
I spent £2 on yamaha125.co.uk just for people to find easily, but any domain can be pointed there, so dtr125.com or anything.
I'll make it pretty much a copy of this forums layout and then we can go from there. Need to know whose admins, etc so I can add them over there.
I'm just installing a gallery and chatbox now so it might not function correctly for the next few hours.
Also in a non harsh way skinbob I dont think you should be setting this up mate, Youve only posted 20ish times and been a member to the forum only since november, thats great that youve been looking into getting a new better forum for us, but to take control of it, decide to include all yammys to this new forum blah blah blah, I and probably others members think your doing too much
Unless the mods say different I'd say leave it to the mods mate with setting it up, help them out with it sure... :)
Hopefully everyone including yourself sees where I'm coming from :)
I just purchased yamaha125.co.uk for now for it to point somewhere, when you have all made up your mind on a proper name / domain it can have that. I'm not making it all bikes, as said by others thats not a good idea so I took it onboard.
If people think i'm doing too much then fine i'll stop. I'm just trying to help and had some spare hosting. I'm not going to be in control. All admins on here can be admins on there, im not trying to take charge or anything like that, i Know ive not been here long enough for that.
All i'm trying to do is help out by giving a better platform for you all to use. I don't expect paying or recognition or anything, im just trying to help the community at large and maybe in the progress encourage some more members to join up.
In all seriousness though please all let me know if you don't want my help, I can stop at anytime.
There is only one Admin on this forum. Only one person who has control of everything snd that of course is Seiki. Us moderators are just that. Moderators. Nothing more. We can move, delete and ban. A few other things but thats it. Everything else is up ti Seiki.

Thanks for doing that man i've always liked d125.com , no need for the R as half of us dont own a R
But isnt that taken now?
Appreciate the help as the fact is this place wont get any bigger as is, so it defintely needs a change.
I see what Reef's worry is because its happened to this site before. More than one person had control of this place and because of grudges theres now no home page. Then theres no link to the site etc (and that was with long time members). Not at all saying that's what would happen this time just stating why the worry.
So how would it work? This place was setup as a homepage then this forum linked off of it. Host being Activeboard im guessing the first admin just paid a subscription or whatever. You being the host would that mean you will have to keep the place open? Forever? I'm just asking because I know people get bored of this place and ive seen lots come and go. I'd hate to be in a position 2 years down the line and you get fed up. You'd have every right but I dont want anyone getting in a position where they have to do what I do, it's not fun.
To add i'm a complete noob to these things like I said and I might be just chatting siht, if i'm wrong or confused please correct me. We do need and appreciate help from anyone willing to offer it.
I see reefs point too and understand where he is coming from, its completely natural. To be honest I've been a long time lurker, just only recently signed up and started posting. I'm not too mechanically minded so doing this is the best way I can contribute.
Now on to the way things work. Basically all I've started making is a forum, nothing else. If you like I can create a homepage that can link to the forum, but I'll leave that up to you to decide.
The forum is hosted on a server I have that hosts a business website and a gaming clan website I run also, so there is no chance of the forum dissapearing one day. I have 20gb of space set aside also, so that should last a long long time to come.
As for names / domains / web addresses any can be used. The web address simply points your browser to the location of the server. I purchased yamaha125.co.uk just as a stop gap. Any can be used. I'll leave this for you to decide as I have no idea lol. Some have been taken so it'll be a case of choosing one that's left.
I think the best thing would be to wait till I get the replacement forum sorted and then see what you think. It'll have the same sections as this, with the added benefits of a gallery for users, proper marketplace with feedback and stuff, and a chat box for people to use. Oh and search engines such as Google will be able to properly index the forum, so say you search dt125 derestriction in Google it would like to the forum, which should lead to more visitors, more members and hopefully us getting to see some more dt's on the road.
I'm at work now for the next 3 days so I'll get it done after that. Then if you or anyone have any suggestions we can go from there.
Yeah I think somewhere along the line we had dt125.com that ran out dt125.co.uk that someone closed and dt125r.com
Dont like the eu thing though definitely .com or .co.uk. How about putting dtr125.com. A .com would be ideal even if the R has to go back in. Not sure about the -
Thats great, looks much better than here. great job on that man. Callum has sorted it so we can get new members again. How much for either as tbh it doesn't really matter anythings better than activefrigginboard
Ay up Seiki. We don't know for sure whether or not this has fixed it. If its not this then its going to br something else. I'm thinking your hosts end.
See email.

Thank you for your email.
Dot TK is the exclusive registry for the Country Code Top Level Domain for the island of Tokelau (also known as "ccTLD").
Dot TK (.TK) registers domain names globally, through our services Free Domain and Paid Domain.
As your email is alerting us of ABUSE by a holder of a Dot TK domain, we have researched the case. The user is in fact a Free Domain registrant, therefore because of the ABUSE violation, the domain has been canceled and the registrant has been removed from our database.
Please note that it may take up to two hours before the changes are globally affected.
Thank you for your assistance with this.
With Kind Regards,
Dot TK Support
I honestly couldn't say with 100% certainty. Im just hoping it is.
Sorry for the noob question but are we staying on this site ? or would we be merging or making a new one soon ?

i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike
If you don't mind my first choice would be dt125r.com out of those, if it's cool I reckon we should go with that
I'm easy mate. Just wanna make sure you and everyone else is sure.
Its a ten second job to purchase dt125r.com and point it to the new forum. I just want to be sure everyone is happy with that and the new forum will be used. So far not one person has actually signed up to see the chatbox, etc.
Just signed up, does look good mate, nice to see the shoutbox, can all of the info from this forum be moved over into the appropriate sections??
In a word no. I could do it manually, but that would many many hours. There is a developer working on a conversion tool that would do it in a few mouse clicks, but there is no guarantees.
I dont mind copying over important posts, etc. And if others could help that would be awesome.
I see the pros and cons for both boards.
On this board all the info is here ready. This board works well, its not ****.
On the other board we have the chance to really take the community forward. First there aint too much to copy from this board. Secondly the boards will have better exposure to search engines, this will mean more members and hopefully see more dt's on the road. I also think having a proper name in "dt125r.com" and a nice forum to use will encourage More members. I definately want to be here for a long time to come especially as my bike has been off the road for 6 months.
I work in computers and doing this is a hobby for me. I run a couple of other websites, so this came easy for me. Im just giving you guys a option to think about.
Taking each thread one by one will never work, lots of good info hidden amongst lots of crap. Was really hoping it could be moved in at least sections but understand that may be too much to ask.
damn
Project threads, pics etc are good to read for a while but when you need mechanical info and it's just not there, the forum becomes useless.
Is there any way to change that into a Home Page? Leading to possibly here? Just like the original homepage for here . It had a few pics and some info about de-restricting.
The extras seem so much sweeter over there. Chat box etc built in, better search engine thing.. but fcuk me the thought of starting again with half the info is scary.
This place will never close completely, too much info. The most that would happen is I make it all private and nobody can see anything but a link to a new site. But again we'd need a substantial amount of info copied across.
