Nice mate. Still think you should have used the original stem and bearings. But it definitely looks good!
Ha so did i Cal. But it wasn't possible. Couldn't get bearings. They don't exist this was the only viable and best option. In an ideal world i would have done though :)
Nah not too bad mate, depends how good you engineers are. My dad's mate who does a lot of Renault's engineering work knocked it up for 30 notes. Well happy!
Woa woa woa. What do you mean the bearing doesn't exist lmao!
You just use the bearing that the forks come with. That's all you use is the bearings that come with the yokes. Can't say they don't exist since that's how they work on the bike!
But it doesn't matter. It's another way of doing it.
yeah mate so many ways iv seen of fitting the yokes etc i see cals pictures of when he done it looks the most simple way i say simple as in the other ways iv seen
Bearings are wearable items. You're telling me if I bought the bike with those forks that if the headstock bearings went that would be it? I would be fooked? Would have to buy a new bike. That's what you're telling me lol. No course not. You would just go back to the manufacture and buy the bearings. Just like you would if the bearings on your DT broke. You'd just got to AJsutton or a yammy dealer and buy the bearings again.
What i'm saying is that the bearings were/are unattainable for me.
With you saying "i'd have still used the stem and bearings for those forks" is invalid, because for these particular forks it's a no go. Simple as that, end of story.
Like i've already said this is the easiest and best method for me to use based on MY circumstances.
Whatever lol. You can have bearings made up quite easily. And I find it extremely hard to believe that you can't buy a serviceable item. Saying that a bearing for a mainstream product doesn't exist is a rediculous statement. I could understand if the cost of the bearing outweighed the cost of the item itself. That's common. Where it's cheaper to buy a whole unit than to have it fixed is where they don't supply parts. But headstock bearings are serviceable and thus should have stock. Unless its been discontinued.
At the end of the day chum this method was the best for my particular project.
I wasn't saying the bearings don't exist "literally" because it's rather obvious that they do isn't it?
You've just contradicted yourself by saying it's a rediculous statement because you're the one who chose to take it "literally" which is rediculous in it's own right lol.
Trust me. This is the cheapest, strongest and most effective way of doing it for MY setup. xo
Right. I was going by the fact that you said the bearings don't exist. That's fair enough you doing it this way. It's nice and tidy I reckon. Just going by what you said didn't make sense.
Ha so did i Cal. But it wasn't possible. Couldn't get bearings. They don't exist this was the only viable and best option.
That's all. Looks like he's done a superb job though. Love that spindle that's quality!
Igggght bruvz finally fúcking fitted 'em yesterday. Went for a long test ride and all i can say is fúck me the difference between standard forks and these beautys is like night and day for sure.
A huge ball ache and trial and error to get fitted but it's all been well worth it tbf.
Just need to fit my mud guard later tonight and do a few other bits and bobs and we're sorted!
A couple of cheeky pics for you dirty perverted bar stools :
I`ve not done much on it mate made a start the other week anyone can upload their pride and joys so feel free fella`s if your bike gets put up there and you don`t want it shown just let me know and i will remove it for you ok and i won`t display any full reg plates either for obvious reasons https://www.facebook.com/pages/Yamaha-DT125R-RE-X-Page/511664495562968
