hi all ,

i have to get this cleared up and i know il be told to search the forums but believe me i have.

there is to much contradicting info about subjects so therefore i need these questions answered as to not blow my bike up again!.

1. is the bike supposed to have the powervalve cables crossed over? ,if so this would make the pv turn into the piston not away surely?.

if i then turned the cables the other way would it not then miss the piston ? ,then the pv would not need to be modded. my barrel will come back with a 1mm over standard bore so this is important ,

2.i have the big one full exhaust system on.when i put this system on i lost all power in 6th but it also could have been the pv as at the time i put new cables on .so is the exhaust killing it or what should i leave my pv flush with the port (unoperational)

3.i need the link for the r/h side crank seal as ive been told it need to be twin lipped double sprung after trying to find it i have had no joy as most of the links that are here are dead.

thanks alot to all of you in advance i have had tons of support from you all where this bike has been concerned and nows the time to just get it sorted .

this will be the very last time i get involved thouroughly with the dt so i really want some answers as if i go down the road a mile and it blows up on me again that really will be the end of the road as ive almost lost my job because of this bike !,i cant live without it

thank you everyone

First of all the PV cables shouldnt be crossing over them selves if they are they must be on wrong they should just be straight, if you post a pic up of your cables I will have a better idea.

I would put your no power in 6th down to your PV/engine and not the exhaust but I could be wrong,

Here is a link for that seal, as with most things yamaha it is a stupidlly high price for a peice of rubber, but from what NORFE says its a must!

This is the one for my DT X i am sure yours is the same if its an RE?

thanks for the reply slob mines a dtr ,and currently the valve is locked open so im assuming thats full power, apparently the crossing over of cables applies only to pre 1997 but afterwards they should be straight

best exhaust to get is a std one and remove the baffles inside it to stop the flow restrictio of gasses

carb to manifold or carb to air boot

if it was carb side, that will be all the cause of the problems sucking extra unfuled air in
