I have been away sorting my bike and my project is finnaly underway. now ive been busting my balls on removing paint and rust from my swing arm, this led me to think... how much to get my frame sand blasted? so a question to you guys that have..... how much did it cost???

Varys place to place. I would say just get it coated at the same time should only be £40 and that aint even a very good price lol.

hmm interesting, what about tapping the threads etc?

The swing arm only has a few threaded holes so you just screw old bolts into them. Phone some local coaters mate.

Just have to phone around and ask . I would just get it podercoated at the same time. Much harder wearing finish than paint. Here is the place I use but they seem to have much much better prices than the coaters I see down south.

ah k easy enough to set to knock up a cheep full set of bolts prior to coating.....

just looked at how to tap threads using a drill or tapping wrech.

looks simple enough, i might try that myself (maybe get a test piece first

No mate. You won't have to tap threads if you put bolts in them first.

is that ok??? i thought that the coaters blasted everything.... meaning i would need to break the fitted bolts out of there painted shell leaving cracks aroun the bolt holes... or is the coat not that brittle?

No you will take the bolts out and you will just have a hole gor your bolt. It doesn't rip the coating out with it.

If I were you I would just use all the yamaha nuts as scrap to fill the holes. Then get some nice stainless steel ones of your choice and rebuild the bike with those and put a bit of copper ease on them when you reassemble.

shot blasted swing and frame, and powder coated swing and frame for £70 if there tomorrow (tuesday) be done for coleection by saturday morning

got me safe colour sorted, black frame, silver engine, blue plastics and some red highlights (simular to the spring on rear shock) didnt u get a pretty good colour match slob? was that luck or do u have a paint number?
