Stuck at moment trying tonremove damper rod from front b forks...is there a method to this. Allen bolt is far too stiff and dont want to mess the head up.does it turn anti clockwise? Tried a bar on key but no go...please help
does not turn at all -removed fork from bike- do i need to remove to remove top nut and drain first-then remove spacer and spring? just tried clamping the fork adn trying to undo the bottom allen socket??
need to get disammbled as i am putting new fork leg on and need to transfer everythiong over
It's probaly under a bit of tension cause the spring will be compressing on it a bit. When I done mines I took the top nut off and drained the oil from the top and took the spring and the spacers out. Then I had to get a sharpened broom handle to ram in the damper rod to stop it spinning when I was trying to undo the bottom nut.
Spring, spacer, top and c washer removed....still unable to turn this bloody thing? Notbsure what else to try...gonna try some heat next but worried due to oil left inside? Any other ideas
I wouldn't worry about the oil inside, as long as you get as much out as possible id will be fine. Mines were baked in the coaters oven and were fine. Some cretin has oviously over tightened it! cause I doubt it's corsion as the threads are bathed in the fork oil.
well took it to yamaha this morning- said yeah it will need airgun on....10 mins later- yeah can you leave it with us.?? hahaha thank god it wasnt just me!
ok... i got the same problem, these bolts wont turn at all, ive removed internals avalable from removing the top cap, i just can get any shift out of them at all. and i cant do my selas untill these bolts are undone, i have left them upsidedown in my shed and the wells are filled with wd40, anyone had this problem and how did they overcome it???
Quick note. Don't need to do this to do seals. Bike shop never charged me too. Apparently if oil is drained then use a little heat and then try. That was their way of fixing it
