Right here is my situation if you havent read my last topic, my bike blew up and ive took it apart and found fragments of the piston in the crank case when i came to clean the fragments out, the crank out before it was stuck maybe because it was left over night with no head on ? or something else serious. so im stuck i would sent it to norfe but money is so tight atm its not an opiton so would you guys agree on finding a cheepish engine off ebay and try and fit it in ? i found a 2001 kick start enging would it fit in the 96 frame i have ?

on another not this is what my bike looks like atm with my mates husky in the background he keeps winding me up in college asking do i want to go for a ride to tesco then goes oh wait i forgot yours blew up lol

callums right matey, bikes do require alot of maintenance and sometimes alot of repair, if your tight on money like me, you just have to save and wait and hope you get it fixed before the sun comes out blazing haha

Yeah if this and if that.

If you had sorted it out when we said you would be on the back wheel doing wheelies everywhere. Where we all would be with if's

As stated in the last thread. If money is so so tight, I would do the following, Not what I would do but here it goes.

Get the head off to Pjme for a new makita piston kit and rebore = £65 odds not sure to be honest though. And get a new small end bearing to.

Get a basin and some parafin, if you can't get or afford that use petrol. |Rinse that crank out for 8 hours if need be allowing the aluminium filings to settle and skim fresh petrol from the top of the basin. Or definatley do what I did and when you empty the crank, do it into a funnel packed with fresh cotton rag. A smelly old t shirt would do lol! Keep going all day moving the con rod up and down rinsing till you think you have got all that crap out!!

If I were you this is what I would do. I can't see you doing anymore damage than what has been done. The piston may or will smash again but that might be after a whole summer or maybe two summers. I rode my bike on a totally feked piston and bearings for 3000 miles plus. No point trying to save if it isnt even feasable.

only reason it will seize is if something is jammed in the crankcase, try moving it both ways to free it up

If your crank has seised it cause all that **** is in the bearings ect or lying in a pile at the bottom jamming the crank. A bit of rinsing and shaking and gentle preasur will get it moving again.

If I still had my spare engine then I'd sell you that. Mind you needed a new gearbox, but you could have swapped your gearbox from your bike into that engine. As everyone has said, just keep at it and save. You'll always be able to go away on the bike. It's not asif this is the only time you'll be able to take the bike out. :)

plus theres always some gratification from repairing the bike yourself when in most cases you could easily give up and buy some ****ter 4 stroke and potter around on that. My bike has a problem nearly every week, be it the top end, electrical or the brakes. I always overcome it even though I think of selling up and getting a 4 banger! you'll be alright. Just save :D

I'd rather an unreliable fast fun 2 stroke than a boring reliable 4 banger tbh. Get on it Danny! :)

Your funeral pal. This will be another one of those aww if only scenarios we were just talking about.

Fair enough if a fully qualified mechanic like scrin flushes the cases out. But you, a person who struggled taking the engine out. How are YOU going to be sure you've done it properly.

In the long run you'll end up spending more money this route. Trust me it isn't worth it. You Didn't listen to me before when I was right. Don't make the same mistake again.

I don't care what others think. But I'll be annoyed if you ignore me then 2 months down the line you're complaining cause there's massive knocking noises from the bottom end.

Well I got 3000 miles out of this piston after a chav rode around with no 2 stroke for god knows how long. Plus it was rallied by a gang of chavs when it was nicked lol!

It didn't even have any piston rings lol they were worn smooth!

The thing is Cal we know what the right way is and the lad has no way of paying for the right way. The bottom end is feked anyway as far as I am concerened. So imo the lad is paying £100 even less maybe on a gamble that he can/might actually have a bike to ride this summer, or a useless garden ornament.

Yeah I'll easily chew up 3k miles. Would take me 4 months. For the money I'd rather wait than ruin a new rebore.
