Got a call from the old bill today - my bike ha been recovered. It was found just under a mile from my house, but they said the bàastards had TRIED to set it on fire...so not sure how bad the damage is. Anyway they told me where it was recovered from so I shall be doing some 'door to door enquiries' of my own. Hopefully it's just cosmetic. I'm assuming they couldn't bypass the immobiliser so meh. Possibly happy to get it back tho, was watching old vids of it earlier today...
Gut wrenching when you get told it's been set alight :( luckily when mine went missing they managed to get it running and ride it just until the head gasket went again. They stashed it only for the landlord of the pub to find it and lock it away and phone the police. Were lucky really
Did they tell you how much it will cost to get it back ?? , they charge you for the recovery and if you dont pick it up pronto they charge storage cost my mate £160 to get his bike back , bl==dy insult to injury
Nah he's not, when my XR got stolen I had to pay 560 quid to get it back cos that was in Leicester and I was down in London and couldnt get up there to recover it. Ended up going to auction cos I couldn't afford to retrieve it :(
Sorry Syph lad am not it's shi-e it was in MCN years ago and was still the case back end of last year Sozz m8, one lad I know they would not let him see it before hand to see how bad it was to see whether to bother or not bast--ds
Yeah. I was we'll lucky. Mine got robbed and I got a phone call and within minutes I was up there pushing it back. Worst of all I had to push it past the people who stole it off me. I knew who done it. I knew they were watching. What did the police do? Ah that's ryt. Nothing.
Most of us have been there and I can only say to those who haven't been so misfortunate. Just keep it locked. Locked and locked again. No matter where you're going. DON'T RELY ON THE STEERING LOCK. I've gotten rid of my steering lock. One less thing to replace
It was locked with a £130 chain to my porch, alarmed and inmobilised and steering lock...
But yeah it was nicked Xmas day...it was found on 3rd march...just as it was sunny so reckon they tried to get it running and failed.
I'll have a look tomorrow but I will guarantee you I will see it before handing any cash over...
wow tha sux mate ..
so it was nicked xmas day and only found now ? chances are they have had it running and been useing it from that day ? maybe only now has the engine blown or something and like most chavs they would rather try burn it out than get it recoverd some way ..
and +1 to the recovery and storage charges know lots of ppl had to pay £150 ish for recovery then all diff charges per day ... some plods use random garages to recover and store bikes
had to pay to get my mashed up aprilia rs 50 back after i crashed it! now thats insult to injury! obviously couldnt go get it staright away as i was taken in an ambulance n my knee was all ****ed up, proper *******s m8 knee was still in alot of pain wen i went to collect it , the ****ers tho wen i got there it had a flat front tyre n they could obviously tell i was gonna ride it away coz i had my jacket and lid n had to ask can u put some air in the tyre for me n they wer like huffing n puffing "aww if i have to" i was u useless unhelpful ****! i just paid u stupid amounts of money for doin ****all least u could do is give me air without bitching about it, bt wthe company was cartech or kartech bunch of grotty scumbags the lot of em
Well it's either they kept it stored till that sunny spell and failed to get it started then lit it or they ran it till it went bang. Had done about 40 miles on new top end when stolen so meh. What I don't get about the recovery is what if its just a burnt out shell? Presumably they would just say oh it's a goner and not either bother collecting it?
That a point if they have and offer to let you buy it back of them they work on the basis that it will be worth 10% of original value , so I am led to believe by a guy that I know who is in the trade ,
Here are some pics...it's actually not too bad. Seems like they tried to torch it via the handle bars :/ so all it did was melt the bar guard and some of the wires to brake switch and starter switch etc. I think they didn't even manage to get it started!! Think the immobiliser stumped them. The ignition barrel was totally removed and the wires all shorted together as shown in the pic. The tyres, wheels, chain, sprockets, grips, levers and lots of other bits are all fine. There is petrol still in the tank and 2stroke bottle is still full! I put it in gear and pushed it along and it turns over so meh.
Im glad you got it back in the end, especially after you reading you said it wasn't Insured at the time! not like that though but at least they didn't do too much damage, those robbing fookers wind me up, pricks x
Argh annoys me so much when little scrotes ruin such nice bikes!!! Mate has his 250f robbed! Found it about 2 weeks later torched : ( only thing which made us know it was his was the levers!

hmmm lucky it realy dosnt look that bad and not real damage so to speak .. you could be right looks like its been laid in a field from the day it got nicked maybe like you said they never got it going dumped it in bushes hidden well... and maybe some other kids found it hidden and dragged it out ? clearly they was clueless and dumb as fck trying to burn it from the bars ???
thieves are stupid nowadays why burn something that can be sold? ridiculous it seems utterly stupid burning fook out of it. if they were worried about dna why not wear latex .its also the way they smash **** up .glad you got it back ,looks only cosmetic .****in idiots +1 on immobiliser
Bad times Sgt sad to see the images of your pride and joy in this way.
I think bike theives don`t burn bikes to hide DNA most of them are clued up to wear gloves to hide their dabs. The only time I think the law would be trying to get DNA from the vehicle for eg if they have firm suspicion of the person they may have in custody caught shortly after a persuit with that particular vehicle. To prove that they was on or in that vehicle. Or the vehicle was found to be used in more serious criminal way robbery etc. The Police have to justify to the CPS their evidence is concrete to make the case stand up in court thats why all evidence is handed to the CPS for them to make the decision to run with the case in court. Its the CPS that prosecute not the police. Thats why the Police have it black and white or not at all its as simple as that.
I believe the theives do it out of pure spite.
If they don`t want what they have taken from you or they feel or believe its gonna be too on top to keep the property they have taken. They fire it. Lets face it they took it off you in the first place letting you have it back undamaged is not on their agenda they take great pleasure in laughing about the earner they have done & having you over its a kind of ego thing for them.
I`m glad you got her back Sgt I know its no help but try and keep ya chn up matey
