Basicly, I ran my engine in at 30mph for 400 miles & it sounds fine as anything bit rattly but my local bike shop said it's working a treat.
Before it blew up i could get it up to 70-75mph
Now it only does 55mph at a push!
What's going on :(

Not right somewhere, but it should not sound even a bit rattly after a rebuild. Also try cleaning the carb fully out as I have had a similar thing with an RE before with the loss of performance.

dont run in a 2stroke at 30mph for 400 miles... you rag it for 3 15 minute sessions, let it cool down each time, when your done with those, change ur engine oil, and your done, done mine good.

Not really, it goes 65mph but the powervalve is set up slightly better! Although where one of the cable bolts on the 1st cable has seized and snappedi had to grind bolt down, goes faster but still bogs :O and i just noticed today that water is leaking from spark olug

Change the engine oil?  am i not right in thinking the dt like other 2 strokes has gearbox oil and 2 stroke? why would you change the 2 stroke if its only pumped in as its used?

a rebuilt engine can be run in many ways, however either heat cycles (warmed up on the spot to temp then left to cool 2/3 times) or as most people do, you simply run the bike at varied revs not going too high in the revs for too long. cast iron bores take a little while to bed in unlike alloy bores.

Is the bike revving well/pulling hard or does it feel generally slugsih, might be worth doing a compression test
