Actually is there a number on the top of that piston?

Also i couldnt see it in pics of bits for the bike but is there a YEIS bottle that sits in the inlet manifold?

Ok. Im telling you that is a 3BN head. The cylinder is 3mb.

Mate go to search and type in dt engines and read up that thread. Lots of useful information that i am not going to recite.

Looks sweet mate. Looks like standard bore. I'd measure it anyway but should mean you'll just need a standard piston.

Hows the barrel?

Type YEIS on search too. Without this bottle it will affect performance and ruin the engine. Its a vital component.

But if you dont have it and its sucking in unfiltered air you'll cause premature wear to the engine

Didn't have any of them boxes on the top end. Sorry for late reply, it was moved into another category.

I guess I'll have to have a look tomorrow and if not, look about buying one.

Should be ready soon, gave family friend the top end, to rebore it and order the pistons.

You say to run it in 500 miles, but on the threads on here, everyone says they ran them in for 300 miles?

I'd run a top end in for 500 miles but people will tell you all sorts. Definitely no less than 300. 500 and ypu KNOW its run in.

If it was a full engine rebuild then defo 1000.

Yeah thats good mate. Should be sweet mate once you've done that.

Have you found the YEIS?

Just looked at my new gasket, its identical to the old one that was in the head. Nothing different, same make and everything. I'm taking a wild guess here in Danny having another type of gasket? Mine isn't as white, either. It's a metal colour (if that makes sense.)

Got all the top end done. Now awaiting a petrol tank and the YEIS, along with a spark plug.

Pictures to follow shortly.

Did you clean the head and bottom end with white spirit before putting the gaskets on?

Also, anyone here know if this spark plug will fit a DT 125?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Spark-Plugs-NGK-Iridium-IX-Upgrade-1-of-2-listings-Car-Motorcycle-/221124172194?pt=UK_WSJL_Wholesale_GL&var=&hash=item337c0719a2

Item number: 221124172194

Bike won't be running again for another week or two. I'm awaiting a bunch of parts. Hoping to win this petrol tank on eBay.

must agree Athena or Genuine yami gaskets we are not being silly about buying others its come to light over a lot of years how these cheaper or other make gaskets fail for some reason .

and even with only my time on this forum I have lost count of the amount of times we have told ppl to get Athena or Genuine yami and they do not listen and every time we see another thread weeks later where they need to rebuild again as the gasket went .

going back a page you say the last owner put wrong spark plug in what make model and code was it ? br8 or br9 ? only ask as I did once have a dtr that would only run on a br8 I think it was as it was a 4dl import and there was something about altitude and pressure with some engines and spark plugs .

It was a BR8 IIRC, a BR9 goes in, I think.

I can't remember which way around, but the spark plug was too small, and way too tight.

Well like i said earlyer in this thread mine was playing up and not wanting to rev past 7k so i took the spark plug out gave it a clean and put it back in and now its fine so boxing i dunno if that could of been your problem but a top end re build wont do it any harm :D

Sorry for the dead replies.

Been waiting for parts, didn't really want to update without pictures. Tanks here and everything, but can't seem to locate a YEIS. I'm going to a shop and going to see if they can order me one.

Bikes being done now by my dad. Should be running by tonight. :D

Ordered one from the shop.

This is what you're referring to? :

Because mine doesn't even have that clamp or hole for that bottle to go into. :|
