Well lads,

I find myself in a bit of a pickle here..... confuseI'm thorn between two bikes! What do you think I should do??

Bike Numero Uno: 2006 Suzuki DRZ 400sm -  This has a lot of tastey little mods on it and I have had my eye on it for the last few weeks! The fella's looking for 3450 for it....

Mods: It's got 460cc big bore kit, larger carb, airbox mod, K&N filter, Yoshi system, 13k miles and a few other tidy little bits.  Bad points it needs a back tyre and sub-frame welded.  He also just text me there a few minutes ago saying there's a hole after forming on the weld of the yoshi exhaust where it stems from one can into the other! I really love the style of the DRZ and have wanted one for a year or two now.

Bike Numero Dos: 2006 Kawasaki ER6f - Absolutely love the sound out of these bikes, and have been reading a lot of reviews about them and they are meant to be an absolute laugh to ride! This one is from a dealer (well they usually break bikes and sometimes take in second hand bikes to sell on) it really is in mint condition, silver in colour (not mad about silver) and they are looking for 2770 w/ 3months warranty.

Mods: Scorpion Exhaust, Alarm system, pazzo levers, double bubble screen, 15k kms.

What y'all think??

Yeah I have my eye out for a cheap DT as a project bike, but in the mean time I need myself an upgrade from the TDR! biggrin

Hmm. Go for the unmodified one.

You have no idea whether a proper mechanic carried oit the work. Lots of other things like whether it compensates reliability.

Could be all bodged together.

Bigger bikes dont need tuning they are fast enough as it is already.

Aight fine. In that case you've gotta stay 2 stroke. 4 strokes are for robots. So i'd say your only option is to get a CR500. Hardly any difference in power compared to the TDR, should do you a treat mucka.

Yeah I was looking for an er6f a month or two ago and there was nothing around! Every dealer I went to said that they are hard to come by and that I definitely wouldn't get one for less then 3k! I've arranged a meet to see the DRZ in two weeks time after I finish college.... and just after I got off the fone to the guy, my mate links me to the er6 on the local classified! It would have loads more power then the DRZ and a better top speed! But the DRZ seems like more fun! hmm

Yeah, the fact that the subframe needs to be welded tells me that he spends more time on one wheel than two! haha! and the bald back tyre could point to him doing burnouts! So I'd say it has been ragged around the place! The 3months warranty with the dealer is starting to sway me! Although I think that kawasakis should always be green.... If i do get it, it may need a respray!! biggrin

Hahaha I think I may be taking your advice Nath! Going to see the er6 tmz! If it tickles my fancy, and everythings in order I'll be dropping a deposit on it, and trading the TDR in when I finish college in 2 weeks! Gunna miss the TDR, but I've the need to upgrade with the nice weather thats coming in! biggrin As I said previously though, Im gunna have to get myself a cheap DT to tinker with and turn into my lil sumo weapon! Seeing all the DT's in the project section has me dying to get one to play around with!! wink

The 'N' model is nice too... but as I said already, it is hard to come by er6's in any shape or form over here, specially for the price of the one I'm going to see! I have about 3400 to spend.... so the fact that it's only 2700 means I have a bit left over to get a nice tail tidy, insurance and to celebrate biggrin

Yeah exactly, be easy enough to convert to the N model! Sure we'll see how tomorrow goes any ways! Will be too broke for a while after to be worrying about modding it anymore than a tailtidy! lol!

Well well,

UPDATE!! biggrin Put a 400quid deposit down on the er6 today! Couldn't be more chuffed! Two brand new tyres on it, new chain and sprockets, slick ass alarm system (the key fob vibrates if yer bike is being tampered with) scorpion can, gold pazzos, heated grips and the bike will be fully serviced and ready for me to pick up in 2-3 weeks with restriction kit installed! smile

Here's a pic! Will get better when it's mine! aww

I'll be taking the restrictor out as soon as I get the hang of the four stroke stomp! I've never ridden a 4t, and this will be my first 'big bike' so will need it for a while! Defo need to source some crash bobbins and a tail tidy straight away!

Defo better to get that one over the DRZ IMO. Nothing wrong with the DRZ. Just don't want one with dirty big bores on and stuff.

Looks nice that does.

Ride safe.

Are you staying on this forum or will you be leaving us?

Yeah lad, I'm actually happier I went this route cuz not only was it cheaper by quite a lot, but more powerful and less likely to blow up! aww Plus, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to sell that on in 2 years time for the same price I bought it because it was that much of a bargain!

Yeah I'll definitely be staying on the forum mate! Gunna try source myself a cheap DT in the not too distant future to start a sumo project on! wink Plus, I'm really enjoying the projects on here! I never had a DT to start with anyways!!

I think you will love the ER6 the build quality on them is that much better than Kwacs of old and as there is that many being raced there is an abundance of tuning parts to be had and they handle well good step up enjoy

Cheers Eddy! wink I won't be tuning it for a while yet... Will be hard battling that much torque after only driving 2ts for the last 3 years! confuse Will be happy to get it back to my house now!

Here's another pic of it from the side! Nicked this from the add on the web! smile And yes I know.... the luggage rack is the first thing I'll be removing! wink
