Bike running to rich causing revving float to high?

Still not sorted my bike yet. I started it today and it was still revving 95% sure the carb is the problem, The bike is definatley running rich as there is plenty black oil in the rear silancer and the plug was saturated.

My car mechanic mate reckons it is revving cause of fuel when he seen it, would my float hieight cause such problems? I did get the bike to idle when I pressed the slide down really hard so fuel is spewing it some how. really wish I had a spare carb to try

cheers guys

When you let go of your throttle can you hear a click? when the needle sits back into the main jet it makes a clicking noise. Don't think it would be your floats

Yeah throttle is snapping shut. Somehow loads of fuel is getting in. I have sealed the whole manifold ect. I am sure it isn't an air leak. But I need to cancel the carb out.

I'm guessing the problem lies in your mixture screw? You know what main jet it is running on? If it has a full DEP and it's a DTR it should be a #240 main jet.

If there is loads of black oil in the silencer, pull it off, strip it down and clear all the silencer out, mine did this and the bike had no power whatsoever and wouldn't do 40MPH, if this problem occurs, clean the silencer. Took me a topend rebuild, loads of stripping and messing around until I checked my silencer, right pain in the backside.

Also, warm it up, then give it a really quick twist to full rev, is it bogging down and stalling? If so, your air mixture screw is out.

yeah mate brand new Dep and 240 jet, bike has been competely rebuilt and not even left the garage yet. was always ideling at 6k bang on. today it did and I hit the throttle and it went flat out and I killed it.

When I hit the ignition it sounds like the throttle is open but I know it is closed. Getting to the end of my patience now and was cosidering breaking the bike and selling it lol, a few on here no I have been at it for months trying to get it to run right,

Been reading up... which I do endlessly lol.

I never knew that the float needle valve seat had a hole in it. I couldn't get it out cause my reataining screw was rounded when I done my major carb clean. So I chucked it in the ultrasonic. The water was full of crap so I reckon the valve is not closing of properly resulting in unlimited fuel being delivered to the engine.
