Blue smoke is probaly engine oil, so the seal might have gone. how did it run on the way home after bump starting.

yeah sounds strange that. hopefully it keeps running fine. if it was something major I doubt it would have started again.

Sounds like carb issues, or have you mixed two different oils together? Or cheap petrol station 2T?

If not, and you have a DEP exhaust, perhaps it needs repacking, can check with leaving the exhaust on, undo the screws to the cover at the end, pull the end off then pull your baffle out, and then see what the condition is like, if its all bogged up and full of oil, it's probably your problem.

They need repacking after a load of miles anyway. So even if it isn't your problem, it should be done.

That's your problem right there, the oil!

It's too thick, get it out and put some good fully synth in.

Bad idea going down the cheap route, every time I'm buying oil and thinking I'm being conned, I think how much a top end rebuild will cost and the agonising 250-300 miles of 30MPH.

Also, when you get branded stuff don't mix it, take the bolts off the oil tank and tip it out, if you pull the pipe off at the bottom, you have to bleed the oil system IIRC. I can't remember, but I think that's correct.
