I think i've seen someone put a yz barrel on a dt bottom end. Not without work i would have thought. But i don't know.
If you crash and they want to see the bike. Not sure why unless you claim or unless they have suspicions and don't want to pay out. Which is likely they'll want to examine the bike.
You could show them your dt and smash a few bits and say thats all yhe damage.
You will get pulled a loy because of the noise.
Answer is i don't know. But i bet if theg found out they wouldn't like it...
OK, I'll tell you for the scenario of having a YZ engine in a DT. Or any other bike with a different engine like a 50CC ped with a 125CC engine.
If you get pulled over, the police have to PROVE you have a different engine, unless it's clearly marked with a different CC or name brand (e.g Yamaha with a Suzuki engine) then they can't really prove it without impounding it, unless you admit it.
In the event of a crash however, the insurance will inspect your vehicle, and they'll check everything tyres, brakes, engine and V5 against serials. The whole lot, because them inspecting that vehicle and finding something bad will mean they don't have to pay out, as your insurance is void (in this case that's if YOU claim on YOUR insurance.)
As for the opposite way, I'm pretty sure they MUST pay out to the third party regardless, but you can get done for insurance fraud (which can lead to a prison sentence and no insurance company will touch you without loads of £££££ you mess with one, you mess with the lot.)
So in hindsight, don't mess around with your engine or what not if you don't want to be messed over. If you do, claim it with the DVLA and insurance!
Yeah seen that DT with yz lump looks fuccking dog! Yeah you can drop a yz barrel on to a dt bottom end but with a lot of work and obviously a yz exhaust to go with and a stronger internals need fitting to compensate for the much higher compression ratio otheerwise your crank will fail as standard.
Blarh...just want more power but love the dt. Love the yz 125s too but its so much hassle sourcing a good yz engine and putting it in the dt and its also so much hassle getting a yz road registered! I dont want a 4 stroke, i want a 2 stroke...the yz 250 seems a bit too much for the road though and drinks petrol like an arab. What do??
Josh keep your dt forever like me and get it tuned duuuuude yz 250s drink petrol my dt is bad enough but then again i've managed to use a full bottle of oil in a week because of the good weather pinned everywhere lolololololol
Im thinking now ill keep the dt...sumo'd...and there is a guy down the road selling a nice yz250 for 1100 quid...and just get that road reg'd with daytime mot (eaaaasy as fook) and keep knoblies on and use for off road etc
rich am i lol its on ebay atm with 1 day 7 hours left and at 960 quid but he said he would end early for me for 1150...he will do it 1100 lol maaaaan im so tempted
fúck it i might just go buy it tomoz....needs the rear shock replacing (comes with the brandnew one just not fitted) and the fork seals are leaking and needs a new chain...thats it. has a pro circuit expanny and can...spare plastics etc GRRRRR cant decide
+1 with the terry tibbs voice. He will give it to you £500 and your mums microwave ow does that sound? I'll tell you wha'. A little whistle down below £2000 and a bash on my partners jubbies.
Just beneath the registration they ticked VIN present.
I think they pulled me cause they thought the bike might have been nicked. If that was the case then props to them. Cause I would have wanted it back if so. They actually pulled a highly dangerous manuvere to stop me. Pulled in front and slammed the brakes on. I nearly wrote off into the back of them. lol
Can't believe how long ago that was lol
Also I lol'd at why they pulled me. Without due care and attention to other users on the road. Look at the time...
It was 01:05. THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE ON THE ROAD! And I was on my 50cc that only did 60MPH and I was only doing 40 on a 40 because I NEVER took the bike past 8K revs. I didn't know much about bikes and didn't realise two strokes need to be revved high. So that's why I think he pulled me to see if the bike was nicked.

Boxing has hit the nail on the head, so much miss information going around about this sort of stuff it's nice to see it all correct in one post.
If you only have third party insurance then the chances of getting caught are literally near to nothing (I've never known coppers to check the VIN at the road side if you got pulled) - the bad bit is if you crashed and claimed on your own insurance then they would definitely check the VIN whilst it's at the insurance companies own approved bodyshop. I highly doubt they would go to the hassle of checking it if they were claiming against your insurance for someone elses damages unless they had suspicions that something was up.
That's about the frame anyway, for engine I wouldn't give a flying **** do what you want. Having a copper know the difference between a YZ and DT engine just isn't going to happen. Hell one copper even asked if my mates R6 was a 125...
But by what you are saying you literally want to ride a road legal YZ with a DT plate, that may be a bit different.
its all just too much effort...I think ill just stop trying to make a boat fly. Fairly sure i'll go buy this yz250 over the weekend and then keep the dt as a sumo and keep the 250 om knoblies (although cos my dt sumo setup is going on yz250 forks on my dt it will be easy to swap if i want :)...thn just get the yz on a daytime mot...from what ive read it seems very easy!
isnt the section 59 a breach of peace/ using your vehicle to intimidate?
you'll only get pulled up for a VIN if you're on the motorway or close to a vehicle inspection garage as the regular plod can't be arsed with it all and have to get a professional to do it
Ha sorry mate, I just checked my inbox...must have read your message while drunk lulz...erm what stuff? I dont have the for sale section because seiki hasnt approved me! What things were there?
