Oops think I broke it
Permalink

Just making start in my spare engine for rebuilding. Stripped down to clutch basket case and haven't got tool to hold it still. Thought I would improvise but shave ended up snapping one of the sections on the basket that hold the plates in. Will I now to replace the lot? Or will it be ok with one small section broke? Any tips other than buying clutch holder tool to help remove the nut?? Thoughts please.

was thinking that I would take my time rebuilding this engine. don't want to start messing about gettin new bits etc

You want to spend your time rebuilding it. Then contradict yourself saying is it ok to leave the clutch basket as it is. No mate. Due to the high revolutions such an unbalanceness to it will throw it out of balance by quite a bit.
