I'm thinking of putting a bigger carb on the dt as soon as i get it running again since the airscrew got ****ed up plus I want more power out of the DT haha (I'll get the cylinder from a rebore in the end of the week, and the piston n everything)
So I was thinking the tm32, but I found out that tm34 had the same dimensions but it has a 2mm bigger bore size and slightly bigger jets in it, and it's same price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mikuni-TM32-1-Flat-Slide-Carburetor-32mm-HP-Carb-/170642195195?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27bb1142fb http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mikuni-TM34-2-Flat-Slide-Carburetor-34mm-HP-Carb-/160859758470?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2573fd1f86
I'd love to hear some opinions! or if you got some better and cheaper option on the carbs
and I know I'll have to drill out the inlet manifold, but I dont know really how I should do with the airfilter part. - Power air filter will have the shock in it's way, plus these filters get dirty pretty easy - The other option (and probably better) is to use the original airbox since it wont get dirty and no shock blocking off. But then I'll have to stretch it out to make it fit (saw someone else do this), and probably make the hole into the airbox a slight bit bigger aswell.
I hope it'll be a success! Then I will post some photos, and it'll hopefully become a useful thread for those who want to upgrade their carbs aswell :)
Edit: I decided to get a TMX30 Powerjet in the end, Pictures and descriptions on page 2

With mods to suit ofcourse it is dear boy. But just putting a bigger carb on won't do shéét, just slightly improved throttle response like with better quality reeds :)
I heard they also have slight smaller pilot jet and another needle, plus slight smaller main jet in the RE carbs... and mine is kinda fcked, probably driveable with it but I sure wont get the same power out of it, and it would be so much easier to get a new carb than trying to mix with drilling airbox and jetting and such
about the fuelconsumption, in the tm32 it's a 250 main jet and in the tm34 it's a 280 main jet. Not too much of a difference imo ;)
It won't give me much higher rpm's ofc. But I will sure gain a few extra bhp (= I can put bigger front sprocket with no problem) hehe
I was just thinking if not the 34mm is starting to get overkill for the 125cc engine? or is 34mm still okay ? I mean it would still bring a bit more power than tm32 except drinking more fuel heh
you mean the TMX 30 ? I've been looking on those too but they are hard to find
found this, but they dont post to finland anyways http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mikuni-TMX-30mm-Power-Jet-carb-Vespa-Lambretta-/181165520828?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2a2e4e77bc
Think I'll buy a tm32 ..And when comparing the vm28 to tm32 to their standard jetting, it's already a huge difference Most people with 34mm also have athena 170cc or have their cylinder ports tuned.
meh, didn't expect there to be alot of extra taxes when importing as I have never done it before Total cost of a tm32 would be about 155pounds to Finland, plus it would take 3-4 weeks
Total cost of a tm32 in europe is about 170-190 pounds
I'm considering a tmx30 now as they are cheaper and easier to find in europe
found this http://www.lambretta-teile.de/ tmx30 - 165 http://www.scooter-center.com/ tmx30 - 170, tmx32 - 179 http://www.mikuni-topham.de/ have mailed them for price on tm32-1 and tmx30 http://www.allensperformance.co.uk mailed them for prices on tm32-1, tmx30 and tmx32

I believe modding the way to go. I will probably fit a 32mm max.
In Finland it's probably easiest to get your hands on Dellorto carbs The biggest motorcycle parts importer in Finland only sells Dellorto, plus my friend can get really good discount from them :)

I do believe the flatslide gives the bike better throttle response and pair it with carbon reeds!! I have never thought about a bigger carb on my dt I've got the older cylinder (1988 ish) paired with a 3mb head on standard carb and she goes well
How much are carbon reeds? I believe they only give throttle response so dont think I wanna get
I dont know really if I'm getting a bigger carb after all... since it was going to cost alot more than I expected. Something is weird with my carb as it's not running as it should.. Gonna try a bigger main jet and then if it starts running really good then maybe I stay with the 28mm mikuni (got 240 main jet, snorkle removed now and airscrew on max since and I can't adjust it since it's fcked) and it runs better on 0 - 1/2 throttle than 1/2 - MAX throttle...
But a friend of mine can get home dellorto carbs with 20%-50% discount so perhaps I'll get a dellorto then but I don't know which dellorto carbs they got yet
Think I'll order the TMX30 with powerjet
any advices on what jets I should get along? Standard is 195main jet, 80power jet and 40 idle jet
was thinking 25, 30, 35 idle jet, 60 powerjet and 220, 230 main jet (already have a 210 and 240 jet)
