I have an old Suzuki TS125R frame that Suzuki UK tells me was made in 1990, and registered in 91. Previous owner was a genuine guy, and said the logbooks had disintegrated after years of sitting out in his shed. And the parts that came with it (95% of bike) were TS125R parts.
So I fill out a V62 and send it off with the frame number and £25. I got a letter back a couple of weeks later saying that I would need to present the complete bike for inspection, before a v5 can be issued as I don't have the reg. So I phone them up and say that this shouldn't be necessary as the bike has previously been registered in the uk and I have registered bikes before without the reg, they say fair enough, put it all in letter and send back to dvla. So I do as they say, and a couple of weeks later I get a letter saying that it was getting sorted and the v5 will be with me in a couple of weeks..
Then today I get a v5 through the post for a 1979 Suzuki 175cc! Which I can only presume is a Suzuki PE 175, not a 91 TS125R! WTF!! So I phoned Suzuki and they say its deffo a 91 TS, and DVLA have it wrong. But if I want Suzuki to prove it I would need to pay £95 for a certificate! But they recommend going back to DVLA and try and sort it with them..
I tried calling DVLA but got told all of there ops were busy, but I get the feeling that they are not going to be much help anyway..
sounds like a right fck about should have just gone down the route of getting therg first sure some can get the reg from a hpi with just frame numbers was a guy at one point did this for £25 ?
dvla are thick ****s basically!
I've had to insure my bike on the frame number for them to be able to register it, but the insurers will only do it for a month, dvla have taken so long to sort it the insurance has expired, dvla haven't got a clue and the lazy bastards close before I finish work!
DVLA are a waste of space they just want money. If you P.M me your frame number and send me 6 quid as a gift through paypal and I will get you your reg number if the bike has been registered in the UK, I take it the 79 logbook they have sent you does NOT have the TS125R frame number on it ?
Thanks for the advice lads. I went down to the local dvla office yesterday, and they said I will need a certificate from Suzuki (£80!) to sort this out. Dickheads
I will inbox you now scrim thanks. The logbook they sent me has the second half of the numbers on it, but not the first part which contains letters.
