You do have the boost bottle on there behind the carb? It's located in the carb manifold between carb and cylinder!

Ken

*sorry I had to edit as I watched the last video and I could see you flick choke on and seen the bottle-it's a defo air leak if the slide is sitting in its correct position...

Must be a right kick in the nackers but your like looks very tidy *

My pain continues guys, hopefully you can get some sort of idea whats wrong from the videos.

Is it an airleak?

Or is it the engine drawing in all the petrol it can for some reason.

Thanks in advance guys, good to be back btw, missed the forum just been so busy and the bike just did my DT morale in with the heartache.

Yeah guys the slide in the carb is pressed right down. Never tried detaching the cable cause I think there has to be small gap so it idles. You can imagine my pain from those vids lol. I think it is possesed by a demon lol. Hopefully someone can rule out airleak ect or say if it is. MY carb before that idled at 6K this one is full throttle. I got the bike to idle for five mins before somehow like a dream.

I dont mind if I do have to re seal the engine but I would rather not if the problem lies with the fueling issue which I think or hope that it is. My understanding of airleaks are that the revs will drop but that thing would do that all day as long as it had fuel.

Just follow your throttle cable from the bars to the junction box and see if any of the adjusters are out

The thing about the cable is that it wouldn't cause the bike to increase revs like that without touchiung the throttle ect.

It did it on mine after i did my full rebuild, if its not the cable i can only think of an air leak

Take the spark plug out and take a photo of the colour and plob it on here.

Did you touch the carb at all when you had the engine apart. Did you accidently drop it or anhthing.

Could just be the pilot screw mate. As the pilot screw controld the engine speed without throttle applied.

Turn it all the way in. Then i believe it is 1 1/2 way out.

The bike will still idle and kick over without throttle. Or should anyway

Right guys. The cable is sound. This is the second carb I have tried. Norfe reckons the revving is to high for a leak. I am at a BBQ at the moment so I can't get to detailed. Bug I would love to rule out air leak the bike has idled like a dream for five mins before.

That sounds like a cable routing problem, cable may be sound but its probably routed wrong.

You would be able to tell if its sitting right just by rolling the throttle wide open then snapping it shut (with engine off) should be smooth on opening and quick on shutting with the sound of the slide closing!
This is a strange one really!!

Either your engine is getting extra fuel or air from somewhere (which is obviously controlled by the throttle)
Can you unhook the throttle cable from the slide, drop the slid back in carb put the cap back on and fire her up?
Try with idle screw turned out then if it won't start turn it in quarter turns see if you can get it to idle right?

All of carb overflows free flowing? Maybe carb is overflowing internally? Just an idea?

Cheers for the input guy's! Going to be working on the bike today so first thing I will do Is dissconnect the cable from the throttle tube and in insure the slide is right down there and then use the airscrew to give it some air, not tried this approach yet.

Luckily the cable that came with the new carb is the junction box style where I have removes the two stroke pump wire. The one on the bike at the moment had to be chopped cause it is the new style.

If it is the just the throttle cable I will be so happy! Hope fully next vid is of the bike purring like a kitten.

good luck with this can be a tricky one to sort as so many thing could cause it..

if was me I would take of the entire throttle cable and carb and cheack everything is sett right ..

have I had a problem like this in the past hell yeah loads of times and some of the reasons why it happens ..

running the throttle cable wrong can some times be spotted by turning the bars left or right see if it revs more .

cable not sett right in splitter ..

floats in carb upside down [not by me the last owner] .

some one has turned ever screw on the carb .

Good news lads. She is sorted at last!!!!!! Even drove it down the street! Big kink in the old throttle cable. I feel like an idiot but well chuffed at the same time.

It went through the gears as smooth as silk. Pics and vids to follow.

Yeah I know, I have missed half the summer cause of a kink in the cable lol. Utter disgrace on my part, but it is running sweet as a nut when I rode round the streets earlier on so can't complain, should have had more faith in work than assuming the worst.

Just going to keep the carb for spares, I seen one on ebay for £50 the other day, I paid £45 for my one of there.

Offer £50 on this one mate that's what I done, have you seen what Yamaha charge for parts in these carb's?' I think solid gold would be cheaper. £40 just for the needle lol not even looked at the other stuff.
