Not at all boxing. My bike got nicked and two officers got it back the next day. Secured it and waited for me to come and collect it. They also came round and did a forensics on the bike. And also did follow up phonecalls.
I agree if i handle the matter myself i would have ended up with gbh. But thats different. Thats proveable. Like said the charge would be handling stolen goods. Unfortunately.
Yeah, but that's your experience with the feds. I've had nothing but bad experience with them.
As for your bike being recovered, they didn't go through the lengths of painting it, did they? If they have painted it chances are the serials are long gone.
So it can't be proved it is OP's bike. Therefore he won't get it back if the feds confiscate it / catch them.
Oh god, if I was local to you I'd be looking for your DT myself and I'd return it to you.
The parts on it will be worth while for the next one, but mind you they've probably been ramming it up curbs, only things salvageable will really be the plastics and tank etc, if they haven't dropped it and smashed it.
Motorbike alarms are good to a certain extent, but I wouldn't rely on a motorbike alarm. Get your shed fully done out, before even contemplating buying another bike.
Get a nice heavy duty shed door made up, and put the middle hinge upside down so it can't be crowbared open, and have it opening towards you NOT inwards! Can be booted in if it's inwards. Heavy duty locks all around, and if you have a concrete floor (I hope the shed is concrete... Wood is useless) you can whack in loads of ground anchors.
They'll be laughing at you now, thinking "yeah, he'll get another DT on the insurance pay out, and we'll have it lads!" I love old fashioned revenge.
EDIT:
Depending on how your house is laid out and where your shed is, I'd suggest getting 7-8ft gates up to prevent them getting over the back. Like an entry, that's if you live in an attached house. If you have your back all open or easy access to your shed, it's 100 times easier for thieves.
Pretty much everything you do is to just make the thieves job that bit harder. Usually they'll just move on to the next bike if the security is high for a DT.

P.S like I said in an earlier post, they're sharing the bike around a gang. The 5-6 lads to walk down after the two on the bike were the remaining group waiting on a surrounding field for them to return. But obviously called it a night or were off to steal someone else's bike as they'd wrecked yours.

Thanks for all your input guys. To be honest I'm not going to bother stressing about it anymore...
At about 3-3.30am this morning I saw it again being rode by 2 scrotes down our road... In all honesty the engine sounded ****ED and I'm pretty sure the end can was missing just by the noise it was making.
Shortly afterwards a group of about 5-6 hoodies walked down toward where it had disappeared. My guess is it's dumped down in Wooley Wood, if not torched by now.
Like my brother was saying, it's been a few weeks. The amount of damage done is gonna be more than what the bike's worth and I'm not prepared to go through it all again for the ****s to steal it.
Just like our Phil, it's a ****ing bitter pill to swallow loosing a bike like that... could be worse... could be nearly £5K of KTM that got swiped.
For now I'm concentrating on sorting the garden & get the shed beefed up for the next bike. Learned my lesson again... buy a decent alarm & spend a bit on security. Possibly a ****ing shotgun to go with it.
I'll be keeping my eyes open for another DT, don't mind something as a project for the next few months.

Anyone on here got something to sell?
-----
aye go look for it mate, what's the worse what can happen, it might be fooked ( but it might not be and hopefully it isnt) but if you find it you won't have to look for another dt project mate. Or have a good look round and if you find it break as much as you can, sell all the salvageable parts and put it towards another project/bike. Surely you got few mates which could help you track it down and find the fookers which did it. If there stupid enough and bait to rag it down your road after stealing it and on the road your have a good chance at findin both the bike and them
Also if they went in a field / wooded area, chances are they're storing your bike in the bushes and coming to get it when they ride it. Trust me, they're local lads look around the local fields!
And look in the bushes! You should have done this within the first day of it being nicked, better than them wrecking it.
Mine was stolen after I got it and the top end went, so left it chained to a lampost outside my house for 2 days and stayed over my missus house. Got back and the bike was gone. Sad and thought **** it's probably ****ed by now. However they couldn't get it started so butchered the wiring and ****. Got it back and started rebuilding all the bits that were missing. If I was you I'd go find it, and see what's needed. People on here are very generous when it comes to finding parts to go back on it :) Good luck man!
I personally think you're relying on strangers to find your bike or hear of it being rode around through the grapevine.
Only the odd person will care, don't forget most people in the world don't give two monkeys about motorbikes, to them they're noisy and fast.
Can only find it yourself now, it's in your own hands to look through the fields, but you seem to not want to and just post on the net for other people to do it for you.
If you want something doing, you have to do it yourself. Better to learn this lesson now than when you get a more expensive bike nicked. This won't be the last one you have nicked if you don't show these thieves you aren't a little woman. They're riding past your house for crying out loud! That's a matter of disrespect IMHO like "haha, we have your bike now let me ride it past your house whilst you look on" I'd of been running out there with a broom to whack 'em straight in the ribs and knock 'em off if it was mine.
seen this pic being passed around facebook localy os some scrote on stolen bike in s5 says the pic was taken today ? cant find any related internet posts about such a bike being nicked ?
maybe some one else see.s a post or hears something so they can share the pic .
Lmao. When my bikw got nicked. I found out because somebody on facebook said summit like haha so funny jack came off this black dtr and had to go to hosipital. Yea i was angry at the fact somebody crashed my bike. But glad they hurt themselves.
oh cal if i was you and i knew who the person was id give them such a beat in for falling off my bike

i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike
lol as I watch this unfold on facebook better than eastenders .. so from what I can see it got nicked day or so ago its reported to police and been sighted up and down this street and area all day with loads reporting it to coppers but no police seen all day .typical this is the lad whos bike it is link facebook page figures even I can see his photos of that bike on his drive showing clearly the street that most of sheffield theifs will know instantly kinda advertised it to the scum . he lives not 10 mins away from this street view link its rideing up and down on [if was me would be there all night with a washing line and batt ]
Do you think you could get a more satisfying site that seeing someone like him being garroted by a washing line?
ohhh yeah could follow up by if the bikes still running doing a burnout on his chest or fingers followed by useing the same line to frag his limp body past his mates round the corner or if the bikes trashed lay it on top of him and by accident drop a naked flame to the broken fuel line .
oh the list go.s on know a biker years ago propa harly rider type said they inserted razor wire in to a hollow tube inserted the tube up someones ass then removed the tube leaving the razor wire behind ??? now that sounds fun
Ha Ha! when you are looking for your nicked bike and spot it in the distance, or following it's tracks through the mud like an African hunter, you would want that to happen to them with out even blinking lol. They really do boil the piss.
Probably the same guy or part of the same group that stole this DT.
You can see they aren't the smartest, no gloves, no hoodie, no face covered. Little kid after a little joyride, would have ran off if anyone confronted him about their bike, told OP to act sooner upon his bike getting nicked.
See, his DTR is ruined, they've moved on to the next bike.
Now lets sit back and wait until the OP gets a call from the police and they lie about its condition, he pays for it back to realize it's completely demolished.
By the way, if it keeps going up and down a certain road, he lives there, or the main thief lives there. They're going back and fourth for more petrol.
OR they're ragging it around a field or park near there.
You learn a thing or two when you live in a high motorbike theft area. Most of them are smarter around here, from getting caught numerous times no doubt. They rob your shed and garages for bikes around here though, even do it whilst you're in, they don't give a fuck. If you're brave and go out to harm them they get scared all either drunk or high on a substance whilst doing it.
They get shared around like an STD in a chav area. Just go on fields find a gang hanging around, you know there's a bike there shortly after. "Can I have a go mate?" "yeah sure!" rag home, come back "sorry mate, feds confiscated it" - "Ah, OK no worries mate" know someone who did this.
My brother got a call from the police saying they've recovered his KTM 400!!!
Coppers followed some scrote riding it in Brampton, he hadn't seen the cops and pulled into someone's drive. Clocked the cop car, went to start the bike and dropped it!
Coppers said the kid jumped over a fence and got away... Typical. From what they're saying they've got forensics off it - PLUS it's not too bad condition considering it was nicked 10 months ago!
We're going to Doncaster next week to pick it up from the impound. I'll post some pics up next week sometime.
I like the look of that tracker and I reckon you could install it very stealthily into the loom and the air box would be perfect. Could be the best £80 you spend.
Do you think the police would still not even be bothered if you knew its exact gps coordinates?
