once you take in to account all the time stripping - advertising -posting - packageing -and time wasters you could lose money and still be stuck with parts a year or two later ..
my opinion is get your bike in the best shape it can be in and looking mega clean then advertise the full bike with a fresh mot and tax also a hpi printout and any history are great selling points keep recipts-old mot.s ect . also when advertiseing make a video of the bike running . also price higher than waht your willing to sell for as they will try to knock you down hundreds stick to you price and the right buyer will come along .
I also some bikes advertise for may part-x and in some cases get another bike and very close to the cash amount I wanted so it can be possible to make double the price you wanted.
I can get easily £300-£350 for my DTX setup.
Engines go for £300-£400 in good condition.
I have a DEP expanny and Athena silencer could sell whole for about £100.
Then could sell my DTR setup for about £100.
Then I have a whole bunch of random DTR stock parts, stock indicators, expanny, and some other stuff.
And the frame could bring in about £200-£300 with the logbook.
Then plastics etc could sell on bring in about £50-£100 I'll have to check the prices.
I reckon I'd get more opposed to selling it whole as they only sell for about £1000-£1500. Spent WAY more than that, so breaking is a way to get more IMHO.
Could sell the engine with the loom and all electrics to save me a little hassle.
All the Vauxhall boys do this. Spend loads of money on Nova's and what not, modify them, and then when it comes to selling no one will pay £2000-£3000 for a Nova. So breaking is the only option. Seen some mint Nova's stripped for this reason. :(
Not true. My brother had a vauxhall nova. Well two. A sr 1.4. And a 1.0 with a 2.0 cavalier engine in. He genuinely says that the 2.0 is stupidly quick.
The 1.4 he said was stupidly quick. No rev limiter.
£300? What have you been smoking. Yeah i paid that. But i paid £300 for a tzr 4DL Belgarda engine. Not some poxy dtr engine.
And may i ask what sumo setup you got. £300 is a lot for a supermoto setup. £200 more like if its in decent condition. But my sm setup isn't even worth £400 lol.
When breaking bikes you will find yourself left with lots of parts as everyone is usually after the same parts, I found this out with my old jc20 nsr!
When people put there cash into there vehicle be it a bike or car the fact that you will never get back what you put into
It unless its something special like a classic so if you want to get as much back as possible you would have to split it.
However if its in sumo trim you would make more selling the sumo stuff and converting it back to stock trim so you can sell parts and running bike.
Lol. You still won't get 300 quid for a DTX setup, whether it's all fresh and brand new or not. I paid 150 quid for 2 DTX wheels, a brake and levers and lines. The wheels had been rebuilt too at 112 quid a wheel.
