Whilst out on my bike today it started to feel like the powervalve was not fully opening when it hit 7000rpm normally the bikes lets rip and shoots up to 11000rpm and tops out around 78mph now it hits 7000rpm and seems to rev out slower and now tops out at 65mph. I checked the power valve and its working fine is it possible the main jet may have a bit of crap in it or could it be something worse.
Run the bike flat out pinning each gear with throttle wide open.
Once at 6th and mac revs. Simultaneously pull the clutch in and kill the engine. Do not allow the engine to spool down before killing it.
Push the bike home and have a look at the plug. Should go blistering white if running lean.
If it is then this method would probably have scored the barrel lol. Running lean is deadly. Will be alright for a literally all in all 2 minute blast. But running it excessively WILL cause damage.
Has a restriction come undone? Rees switch or the green and black earth wire. It is possible thst the powervalve can retard after a certain rpm. Thats standard on a dt125re like mine. Powervalve retards and you loose power. Earth green and black wire sorts that out.

I checked the plug and that was a nice light brown colour and the temperature was fine but I did not check the reed switch though I'll do that first thing tomorrow.
