So after a week of bad luck my look continued yesterday with a nasty oil light flashing at me followed by a dirty knocking noise and to top it off a crunching noise! Yeah blew the car up!! Don't know what's failed but either way the engine is completely dead! I am fecking gutted! Although this will be an excuse for a new car and a new engine for the golf in a while!!, times like this where I do wish I still had the DT!

Something obviously went amiss. VW engines are usually bullet proof WHEN maintained :( brother had a mk 1 golf with 170k on the clock. Engine was sweet as a nut.
What mileage was it on?
I take it the car's worth **** without an engine?
You could always pick up another lump from a breakers. But i suppose without knowing what you're doing it could be quite tricky.
Yeah something some where went wrong! Engine turns over but no compression at all!!
Thing had 112k on it! I put 9k on it in 2-3months!!
Was maintained well like but something are out of our reach!
Yeah pretty much worth scrap but I'm refusing to scrap the thing!
Just gonna get a new car! Mines parked up in the drive now feeling sorry for her self!
Thinking when I have the money I'm gonna drop the 1.8t gti lump in her

Nah mate. 112K and the engine to go bang. Something wasn't checked as per maintenance. Either valve tolerances or cam belt or some other timing mechanism was well overdue an overhaul and failed :(
That's the problem you see. Four strokes are pretty complex. And modern four strokes have very fine tolerances.
The good ol two stroke on the other hand. Even the most modern ones are still very simple in theory. But extremely complex in practice.
Was a 1.4 petrol and I'll be honest mate she didn't have an easy life! Took the thing to Essex and back!!
Danny will tell you how I used to drive the thing! Plus she got us out alive after being chased by a van haha
She served me well and that's why I will make her live again rather than just giving up!
Yeah I know, gonna take my engine part soon anyway and when I do I'll be sure to take many pictures
To see what sort of failure happened!! But yeah never as simple as a 2 stroke haha
