Turned to **** on the last day when some scabby street vendor decided to nick my £800 digital camera and my misses £500 Gucci purse full of the rest of our holiday money.
I could not be more angry. We were on the beach playing with our little gay bats that we brought and our stuff was maybe 30 foot away, there were people all around us and I noticed a street vendor hanging around near our stuff. When I looked at him he was fiddling with his pocket so thought nothing of it. My rucksack has 2 zips and my Mrs purse was at the bottom of the bag, a tshirt and vest were on top and then the camera at the top of the bag. Within 5 minutes my camera and her purse were gone. Although I initially only noticed my camera has gone, we didn't notice her purse had gone till we had gotten to the airport roughly 8 hours later.
Now this is my dilemma. I have filed a report with Spanish police (Hardest thing in the world when you majored in German @ School.. not Spanish.). I have holiday insurance and that covers me but we didn't repot the purse cos we didn't know until after we were at the airport. My Insurance claim form states they need receipts for items lost or stolen but the camera and her purse were presents to us at Christmas, Hers 3 years ago and mine in 2011. No one is going to have a ****ing receipt and it feels asif I'm pretty much ****ed in that case.
We have proof that her credit card and bank card have been reported lost or stolen so, we may be paid out for that. Wether I can get anything for my camera is another matter. How can I get a legit receipt for a camera that I got 2 years ago?
Sorry to hear that mate. Was watching a program on TV the other night about pick pockets and theives in spanish tourist resorts. I wanted to execute them as i watched it! All the best with getting it sorted and take it as a life lesson. Some really disgusting people around!
