Right... so im still planning on a 170 bore for a bit more bottom end poke, and i want a new exhaust too.

Imthinking of either going for dep or gianelli.

What do you think will give the most power??

I know dep have the name and are the most popular.

Cheers

I've said it once. Said it again and again. Those athena kits are really bad. I've had one and i genuinely believe the 125 better. A lot of people have had one and switched back.

They are much better ways to get a bit more poke.

so you have one on the dtr ? and would say it makes the bike faster as that is the onlu realy way to know for yourself .

from what I see here you are basing this on what you hear a tzr has a underslung and is not better in my mind  and makes the bike 100% no good for ever going off road again not to menting the fear of large kerbs -speed bumps -and if like me getting it up steps to the home .

yeah he has all the paper work to say they are great and a dyno printout looks at some of those bikes they are modded to hell I bet they still have the same dyno print out with standard on all waffle to help sell his items

Ah thats right. You want to port the 170 don't you?

It's really technical. Two strokes are really complex machines. After reading grahams book i am more aware of why the athena wasn't very good. The exhaust can make all the difference.

I had a dep on the athena and wasn't impressed. So it could be that.

Not necesserily mdk. An underslung exhaust will see you better gains since they're easier yo design and to get power from.

you say this from useing one or just by what you read on that thread ? mainly said  by the maker or used on well moded bikes ?

I tend to type or say what I know and not what I hear or read .

had people for years saying pinn  the valve open  its rapid or remove the snorkle its awsome  .

Dude whats your problem.

There are no way i would believe his dyno read outs. Dts won't push that sort of bhp on standard ignition.

Just do a bit of reading up about two stroke exhausts and you'll understand.

I have no problems just  disagreeing with what you said ? [An underslung exhaust will see you better gains since they're easier yo design and to get power from. ]

and asking what you base this on you say its what you know and not what you hear . reading up on something from makers is what you hear and in 80% of cases is not true .

I say a standard zaust is better or just as good as any other .

the guy  is asking for op[inions ? so I am giving him mine  .

your telling this guy to get a underslung for his dt with out ever trying one your self ? I am saying use a gutted or modded standard  or dep based on trying lots

No i didn't tell him to get an underslung exhaust. I told you that an underslung exhaust if built right will see you more power than the standard exhaust. I read (heard) this is a two stroke tuning book by graham bell. A very well written book. And i could quote what makes underslung exhausts a better option for someone who wants as much power as possible out of the their engine. You don't have to buy that one. I didn't give a brand or name or link as the best way to get an underslung is to have two stroke tuning build one after hearing your setup and where you want the power.

Even the sligtest taper in the expansion chamber can shift the powerband a few hundred revs.

Arrows the best aftermarket
Deps the best aftermarket (Price taken into consideration)
Standard Gutted is the best all round (apparently, although I gutted my standard and felt that DEP shifted the powerband to a more fun place. This isn't to say it's the best)

All of the above are as good as each other as far as I'm concerned. I've had two of the three and they put smiles all round

It would literally be a small bracket that needs making. Few mm out.
