Do they all work the same as I had a small one on my bike but having problems with wires melting when its attached managed to source another but its longer and dont fit my frame but now having probs with lights as they stay dim no matter how many revs so not sure if there both broke or wired up diff as the fittings the same any help much apreciated.

Also strange prob with brake light seems to have 12 v unattached but as soon as tail light attached no volts or light !! v strange got me scratching my head think going to have to look at all the wires as have some smoking smoldering moments with this new loom melted fuse to holder but didnt blow 10 amp fuse !!

I would say all regulators should be the same cause when you test a running battery all bikes should have the same voltage if it is charging 13.6 iirc, all the regulator does is stops the bike cooking the battery ect.

Your second problem sounds like a short circuit, I would first check that where all the wires connect/ rear brake light indicators ect are all insulated from each other where they are gathered up, pritty common problem I have had myself.

cheers slob had a fiddle this arvo and old regu works the lights but fried the fuse and wont charge the batt and newer one charges batt but lights are barely on just bought another to test.
Still cant work out brake light as it works the led one I have but cant tell the diff between on and brake with it strange piece of kit came with bike and light I got fitted wont light up when connected but works fine if I test off the batt so not to sure if its the light or loom as bulbs fine and seems to be all good inside so still baffled with it.

Wires are all insulated just fitted new insu bullets to the loom aswell looks like i'm going to have to strip it down and give it a thorough looking at hopefully the weather holds out tomorrow so can root the prob will let you know how I get on.

had same problem..dodgy brake connector-caused nearly all my loom(brown earth) to melt all way through loom from start to finish..lol thought it was reg, but once loom wire was replaced and all connectors cleaned up -kept same reg- and all good now

Yeh had a lil read of that just fitted new switch on mine but the front one is connected with tinsel lol but isolated that for now tis strange as get 12v through the wires on the multimeter but soon as I attach it to light wires no volts !! Going to have to strip back the loom to bare and see if any wires have melted together as I connected brown to black on my loom as it shows on wiring diagram as they were loose then had a smolder fest but cant see any broken wires and don't think cdi effects brake light?

Doing my head in tbh as worked fine before with kettle wire loom but no indicators now this loom seems good apart from brake light argghhh only want to mot it =/

Thanks though could well be a similar prob fingers crossed I find the prob tomorrow as aint got to waste half the day waiting for postman slow again
