You say you have the sidestand down, do you not mean up lol, it kills the engine when it is down, just incase it isnt a typing error lol.

Got a electrical fault somewhere then. Worst thing to get on bikes. Just have to keep trying to get it to spark. Total nightmare talking from experience. Walk away and leave it and come back to it fresh headed, sometimes helps

so when you push the button the engine dsnt turn over? might be the solenoid. make sure that the fuses and connectons are all good. also the wires and connectors from the stator, i had a wire that split just when it comes out from the case

Over time water gets in the kill switch and corrodes it cause it is far from water proof. I have taken mines apart and cleaned the switch to yellow shiny metal.

yep no power from electric start when i press button, i cant see anything wrong with solenoid as the bike i removed engine and loom from was a 1st time startor its something i have done or not done properly also when i bridge the solenoid im not getting no spark either so im thinking the problem may be linked ????

check the wires going into the solenoid and clean the connectors, i tent to use that engine start spray on the conectors as it cleans them really well and dries out instantly, make sure all the connections are good

take some pictures, if you got another solenoid than try the other one, and take a multimeter and check if the button is working,

but there should be if you say if you short it than it spins so the wire should be good, there wnt be a live there. imagine the solenoid working like a switch on your wall, when you press the starter button its like you fliped your wall switch and the power goes through, did you make sure the fuse works ? and the socket for it is good and clean? have you got another solenoid that you can try? you can get one for around 15 quid, ones from yamaha tw are the same, i have got one of them on my bike,
