No the Athena one is just as good...so I would go for that..apparently the same manufacturing process unlike the dodgy copies. Running Athena on mine after using dodgy copy and the difference in material, feel etc was huge and no more leaks or overheating!

Search sound for those nuts mate..save you some cash there! Get it done sooner then lol.

Fair shout. always assumed they were cheaper pattern. An Athena top end gasket set can be bought from wemoto for less than that though.

Yeah Athena is fine. I use them. If you do want Gen yam then its a yam dealer or Aj sutton online.

If you want to refine with 1200 that would be good. But it won't have much cutting power do definatly use 800 first. I use wd40 and not water.

Do a nice steady figure of eight motion.

I've always used the combination danny said first. Start thick and work towards fine. Make sure you take your time.

Personally I would find 180 ect far far to abbrasive. Would still work with refining down but when using you would have to be a bit careful, not saying it wouldn't. But you won't muck it up with 800 and it will give a good degree of cutting.

I reckon you could take a couple of mm off in 20 seconds with 180 lol.

Yeah id start with 800. With time it will just keep going. better to take time and ensure you dont over do it. 800 moving to 1200 should produce and very nice surface. If you dont feel comfortable doing it then ask someone else.

I've never had any problems. I do brush on water to the surfaces when I do it though.
