crankcase cleaning?

whats the best way to clean the cases? i have split my spare engine- and want to clean inside and outside of cases before  putting in new seals and bearings.

 

prob could do with good lick of paint aswell once clean?? ideas?  absolutely dreading putting back all the gears etc back in lol cant remember anything hahaa

Yeah I'm the same. Can't remember a thing. I haven't done a brilliant job on cleaning to be fair so can't comment.

got a complete spare engine- had barrel rebored with 1mm piston kit -powervalve modded....sat around-was gonna get rid of in bits-now decided i shall rebuild the bottom end and sell as complete engine rebuilt.

i fugure that rebuilt engine worth £300+ where as in bits..prob £80-£150 no brainer really

i have all the bearings,seals and gaskets needed-crank is being reassemsbled with new rod, and bearings-but want to make it look nice and shiny :p


yeah been mod now 2 weeks lol...took ya time :p

surely someone has cleaned their cases when rebuilding? do i need to use paraffin and a tooth brush lol

I used varying sizes of wet and dry. Then sprayed over the top

old oil, bits of metal from gears, other contaminants -so that seals/bearings seat correctly and no chance of anything causing problems

paraffin and a toothbrush all the way,then rinse and dry biggrin
