Well bought this off a mate a while back after he blew it up two weeks after buying it, at 22 clem the poor thing hadnt been looked after and gave up the ghost. when I stripped the engine I have no idea how it ran at all, piston hitting head, gudgeon pin imprinted/warped, water pump seal and head gasket gone and a piston that looked like it had being to hell and back lol.
when I got it.
The engine
The engine is that far gone, I have got hold of another still running standard size piston, will strip and rebuild before fitting.
Got hold of some dt125x plastics tank and seat to fit to give her a facelift.
Then there was what wheels, ended up buying Rs125 pre 2005 5 spoke wheels and complete front brake.
Started on the rear had the spacers knocked up and bolted up.
Now it was the fronts turn, because of the smaller diameter spindle for the Dt, I decided to get sleave and spacer made to allow me to keep same bearings but allow me to use thinner spindle from the dt.
Now all bolted up checked wheels were inline with each other and they are 1mm out from each other, but the wheels sit 3mm front and 4mm rear toward the right hand side of the bike when measured up but dont think this will make any difference as doubt bike was made with perfect weigh split side from side from new never mind after 19 years of being abused.
Now have to sort calliper bracket out then its all coming apart to be blasted powder coated and painted and hopefully come the spring used to commute to work.

looking a 100times better already bud much would u charge to get the spaces and stuff to fit the rs wheels as ad deffo buy sum if u could be bother to get some made up
On the spacer front, once everything done and proved I have no problem putting up the sizes pics etc or getting anyone a price but any engineering company or anyone with a lathe could knock them up but I would want to prove them first before releasing sizes as I may adjust them before its all done. on the engine front am I heckers rebuilding that but to keep my numbers correct will be using my casing when I strip and rebuild the new one I bought, the engine in the frame is the knackered one at mo.
I like the fact ur repairing it otherwise that bike looks f u cked I like it better in the first pic. Sorry
Everyone's entitled to there opinion mate, It is being built to serve a purpose for me, but the enduro/supermoto thing is like Marmite as in not everyones cup of tea, if it wasnt as knackered and just a bit tied looking I would of kept it standard but since everything was fooked lol, it all had to be changed.
Well have just moved the bike from mine to a family members garage cos some well known scumbags were seen out the front of mine and also in my back lane, I was going to move it anyway but cant take the chance even though my back wall is 10ft tall, it would trash it being dropped and would also trash anything in its path like ma shed. Why cant thieving scum not keep they hands off peeps stuff, one good thing is I also found my Baseball bat, I hadnt seen it in ages but today it turned up, Funny that.
Yeah it's rough round the edges. Just needs sorting out. Some new tank panels and good clean that will ne spot on.
Yeah it's a shame mate. What can you do. Just have to pray that they nick somoene elses bike and kill themselves on it. I've had my bike nicked and the police done jack shït.
Ive got the tank panels well one needs repairing as dog had a chew lol. got the headlight surround too, once its stripped blasted powder coated and painted it will be a different bike, you will be surprised what a coat of paint can do.
these lot are well know for burglary, nicking bikes and cars and being smack heads, I am surprised they have not killed themselves yet.
any updates bud and didn't know u were from sunderland not to far from me
No updates, I wont be touching till next year now, so will be striped blasted and powder coated before a complete rebuild, hopefully Santa will give my some pennies to spend on it lol..
You have a DT, the most nicked / sought after bike by thieves in the UK.
The thieves love the enduro / supermoto look. And the fact they can so easily pull the number plate and numbers off and sell it on as a "field" bike.
Invest in some Almax chains now, before it's too late. And when you're at work, use them Almax chains. Or your bike will go bye-bye.
Two leads in the back of the barrel and your bike is being rode down the road by some chav.
Chains or lose it, bro.
The Almax chains are £100-£150, but they aren't getting through them with just bolt crops. They'll need a grinder, and that's loud so you'd hear it. :)
I have a ground anchor at home, but do need to invest in some new locks, they would not be able to get it from my back yard, but would do a lot of damage trying, when finished I will fit an alarm and make a immobiliser for her that way I can wire in the way I want.
The Usd forks should be here tomorrow so once they fettled to fit, will be stripping the bike down for blasting and powdercoat, still in two minds for black frame, yellow frame or blue frame. think yellow would be too harsh, black is well black and blue would go ok with black bike and yellow wheels I think. got to make my mind up soon though ;0)
The ever optimist ain't you boxing. Not sure where you got those figures from though. They are sought after. They are prone to being nicked yes. But saying they're the most sought after and stolen bike is a big statement.
Be interested in seeing where you got those figures from....
Although his point remains. Do lock it up well. Be a shame for it to go after you spent so long on it.
I got the complete forks and yolks, fat bar clamps and fat bars delivered for £130, they are 2001 Yz125. here's a couple of pics with the carbon wrap off and my Aprilia spindle fitted.
Cheers, there in really good nick, stanchions are perfect, couple of little scratches where the yolks have been and one odd bolt and one missing, apart from that spot on, got them off ebay, lad called chris breaks crossers, advertised forks for £130 I got fat bars chucked in as the fat bar clamps are on for the £130 delivered. He also has just changed oil in them so advertised them ready to fit, but that would be onto a yz not dt of course, Ive got his number or I could link his ebay page if you wish.
Mate that's an absolute steal. I paid about £200 for my forks and yokes. Wasn't really clued up at the time and got ripped off :( should be pleased at that.
Well looked at your build Calum and nicked a couple of your pics, Ive ordered a new ignition switch, 04-06 as mine was knackered and the wrong shape to move, when this comes, fabricate block, weld to frame then onto the powder coaters as Ive decided frame going blue ;0)
Very nice. Where'd you get the ignition from mate.
When my dt got nicked the ignition was smashed up. I bought a brand new one off wemoto two years ago and it's never missed a beat. People have slated their electrics but i want to disagree. My indicators are wemoto as well as my ignition barrel. Very solid.

Not impressed with my ignition barrel off them, it stopped working properly after a short while but couldnt be asked to send it back. Took it apart completely and you really get to see where the savings are made. Still works though years later, just.
DT looks great, not a fan of the yellow rims personally but definitely an improvement on what was there before

Cheers Seiki, yeah wheels and wheel colour will be Marmite for quite a few people, when I bought them I had a choice of these or black ones, don't know why but the yellow ones just grabbed my attention, once build if they look wrong will paint as tyres need to come off to rotate anyway.
Have you had it tested that way as I reckon I would be pulled at Mot as they are directional lol'
I have a mate who used to race 2 strokes many moons ago, because most tracks run one way the tyres used to wear more one side than the other, he used to buy the tyres cheap and rotate them and then beat the people he bought the cheap one sided worn tyres off in the race running them backwards Lol.
