You can in theory yes. In practice it's a lot of messing about and to tell you the truth i just use the kickstart on my re that i fitted.

For the leccy to fit on the r you would need.

The flywheel reversed on the crankshaft. The statorplate. Drilling through the crankcases to mount the motor. The generator cover drilled and tapped to hold on the dtre coils. Then you would need to splice the wiring loom to get the leccy in. The side stand switch needs to kill the leccy as well as neutrual switch.

The list probably goes on but i thought i would just scratch the surface. The easiest thing to do is to use the kickstart. If you're still not happy then transplating the engine and loom is thenonly other viable option.

lazy fcker lol ..

why would you want to mutilate a awsome 89 engine ? chances are the kicker will never let you down where as the electric will .

What about TZR's? They don't have a kickstart. Well my TZR Engine does.

its not going in a dt

the seat postion is a lot lower than the dt an that will make using the kicker very interesting

Aww mate It's a lot of work. Did you not read my post?

It's not just the cases you would need to swap. It's a lot. The whole engine.

You're better off swapping the complete engine over and loom.

No sorry you're better off with Kickstart. All I ever do on mine is kickstart it. Starter when she's warm and only needs less than a second.

 whats it going in ?

also many bikes have kickstarters  with a lower seat position with out problem look at some kids bikes -110cc pitbikes ect .

advice if you realy must have leccy starter then sell the 89 engine and buy one with it already fitted and be more simple .

Some people machine the casing to fit the electric start does any one have a pic of it done

I don't like the thought of doing a hill start using the kick start
