My DTR Project + history of my bikes
Permalink

Well its about time I started a build thread, but to start with let me go into the history of my bikes which wont take long tbh...

Back in the end of 2004 I took my cbt and started looking for a Kawasaki ar50, but after not finding anything a guy that I worked with convinced me to get a scooter so I got this beast:

and typically, had to mod it, so some paint, anodized crap and tuning goodies went on

didnt like the wrong paint so changed it a bit more

Sadly I got lazy and came home one night, couldnt be bothered to put it in the garage so kinda tried to hide it in the driveway next to my sisters car with no lock on it as i thought I lived in a half decent area, but it got lifted and never saw it again confuse

It was close to my 17th birthday and we had a 97 DT125R in at work so I ended up with this baby

done a few little bits to tidy it up slightly

Sadly in just 2 weeks of ownership I was at a roundabout on the A3, stopped waiting for a gap to pull out and a stupid lady in her stupid ford ka came out of krispe kremes and straight into the back of my bike snapping the exhaust and putting a crack in my frame thus the bike being written off bleh

So then I bought this piece of sh1t because I wanted to get back on the road asap

but after a week or 2 of selling/swapping bits on it I just sold it and bought this

changed a few bits on it and just made it a bit tidyer

Then I blew it up

and put it away in the garage, done my test and got this

and again done a few little mods

and on a Wednesday night coming home from bury hill I wasnt too far away from box hill when I went head on with a car mid corner and as you can guess, the bike got written off cry

So whilst owning the hornet I bought another engine to put in the dt to sell the bike on, apparently sold by a cop in Wales who claimed the engine had numbers which was boll0x, so swapped the internals into my casing but I just couldnt bring myself to sell the bike. So now the bike has been sat outside for a few years I have stripped it down to the bare frame to get it powder coated I am in the process of rebuilding it and pics are to follow.

Broke an arm and a leg, nothing else luckily, wearing all the right kit really helps reduce the injuries.
I ended up out of work for ages and lost my job in the end.
I was bed bound for just over 2 weeks, it took me 3 days to actually get out of bed and then 4 months before i could walk without a zimma frame or crutches.

The dt is an awsome bike. I live inside the m25 and you dont really need a bigger bike here, specially for commuting a 125 is perfect. I am very throttle happy and like to use bike to the best of my abilities all the time so the dt is just right for me. however I will get a 2nd bike sooner or later which im sure will have more cc's.
