Hi all, as this is my first post I thought I'd take a minute to say hello and tell you more about myself.
I've had lots and lots of bikes in the past, big and small but haven't had a DT125R as yet.
Introducing my project. When I was much younger an older kid had a beautiful white and pink DT, it was the 1991 colour scheme, I'm not 100% certain what bike I had at the time but his bike was a LOT nicer and I loved it! Since then I've always wanted that particular DT.
Now, twenty years or so later I've started collecting parts to produce the bike, so far I have NOS front and rear mudguards and a seat with new pink seat cover ready to go on, I've got a looong way to go!
My hope is the forum members here might be able to help out with their knowledge, possibly advise which parts I can source from other bikes, maybe even provide scans of the original graphics, I'm sure I'll have plenty of other questions during my journey and will appreciate and welcome any constructive feedback.
Here's hoping my dream of owning that particular DT turns into a reality in 2014!

I think you will find this site extremely helpful. Lots of knowledgable members here and I know that people here will be very helpful to you.
All I can tell you about the white and pink is good luck. White panels are expensive at the best of times and usually end up being a bit beaten up!
When you make progress on the bike head over to the project section and start a thread there with lots of pictures of how you're getting on.
This website has a wealth of knowledge about models codes etc so just check the retrospective categories to find it. If you can't find what you're looking for open a thread in the relevant section and I'm sure someone will help you.
All I can say Is that I think you're going to have a fun project on your hands.
Also check out Phillpe on eBay for non genuine pattern plastics. He's from portugual and sells a lot of stuff to members here. When I get time i'll find a link.
I remeber the pink and white dtr of that time also the pw 50-80 . great looking bike and was one of the faster models not to everyones taste but still a nice bike . I am much more a fan of the white and red & red-grey
What a fantastic welcoming, thank you all.
Indeed, that is a photo of the bike I'm hoping to build and yes, I've already discovered Phillipe, the very man I brought my pink seat cover from, very helpful chap. Has anyone bought his white plastics before? Just wondering whether they are a good colour match to the originals? My genuine yamaha mudguards are a very slight off white, I hope they haven't discoloured with age!
I will definitely post progress of my project in the project section, I expect to be accumulating parts for a while so may not have much to show for a while yet.
As mentioned the decals do look to be a problem, as do the fork gaitors (I just can't find them in pink) I'm guessing there isn't much demand for pink ones, it's probably only me looking to buy a pair!

Fingers tightly crossed on the plastics, my mudguards are new but who knows how old, numerous shades of white isn't going to look great!
I did notice the scoop graphics previously mentioned btw, can't seem to find the rest of the set anywhere though, I think I may start a specific thread on these particular graphics.
I have a good feeling about this project, I can see Ive found the right place to come to should I need any help!

yeah would say if your gona use the new panels then you have to go all new as originals are offwhite with age .
as nothing much changed about the bikes you can buy most years but would need a white frame or you could paint that yourself .
still some nice white ones out there and its well worth watching gumtree alongside ebay and well worth putting a wanted advert on gumtree for the parts you want as many do not list items and may just have it laying around in the shed .
