Seems to be going well but have got a slight vibration between 2-3k revs not enough to feel it on the bike but can hear it faintly when blipping throttle is this normal for a 2 stroke.goes away as soon as its revved higher and got loads of compression sounds like its coming from powervalve but not 100 percent

Yeh cant really understand why they changed it on the later bike.do you think the slight vibration is normal might try locking it open again and see if it still has a vibration
Maybe the vibration im getting is normal then.i have noticed theres a bit of side to side play on the powervalve though so maybe its this.if you push on one end theres definetly movement side to side is that normal.its not alot of movement but may cause a vibration
I think because of how the piston went last time im just paranoid the valves hitting the piston with every noise I hear lol.might have to take the valve out I think when I get a chance and just double check nothings touching it for peace of mind
You'll see scuff marks on the powervalve, if the pistons catching it. and remember the piston expands slightly with heat, so it may be ok when cold, but warmed up the gap between piston and powervalve closes up.

it was grinded down by grampian motors but completley forgot to check when putting back together.if it is catching will it already have damaged it it or can it still be saved by shaving a bit more off
Grampain know what they are doing pal :p think you are being paranoid due to previous history. mine slightly rattles- they do have some play in them- as Nev says if your that unhappy remove powervalve and look

You can still save it yes, as the powervalve is a much softer alloy, so gives way to the much harder piston

cant fault them at all they even modified the valve for free.i think im just being paranoid but will take it out anyway just too double check and put my mind at rest

will take it out tonight and check for any marks etc think it just paranoia but at least i can give it another clean while its out
Havent had a chance to check pv out yet however removed plug today to check mixture.can anyone confirm if this is the correct colour for a 2 stroke.am currently running a br8es plug which has done around 200 miles
Will the iridium make it run richer.have now fitted a br9es and will be taking that out on my lunch to check colour.theyre all the same plug in the pics but different sides
Thanks nev will do as above have put a br9 in and took it to work but it does run better with a br8 thats in the pics so will take tge br9 out on my lunch check the colour refit the br8 adjust screw 1/4 turn in then check colour when I get home
The 8's are one step hotter than the 9's. If it runs better with the 9's, it won't hurt a thing to use 'em. You may foul plugs a bit more, If you start fouling them switch back to the 8s.
I'd much rather see the colour of it in front of me, rather than in a pic, but yes looks a tad lean beige/light brown is the colour you're after. adjusting the mixture screw should sort it mind. clean or replace your plug, then give it a good 10-15 minute run and look at the plug again.
As nev says, its very hard to tell with a photo. You've got the flash on which is making it really hard to see. You've also focused on your tools in the background in one photo lol. Best bet is to do as we keep suggesting. Use the haynes manual. They have a spark plug comparison chart you can check with.
