Might nip out there later and do a couple more bits got a 1yr old and a misses to keep happy though lol.plus its not excactly warm out there.think I need to get a heater for garage.
Since it cut out on me I put another carb on it before I rebuilt as old one was showing its age.i have set the mixture screw to 1.5 turns out but what about the tick over screw as dont want it revving it nuts off on tick over when its first started
Dont rush it. Its not worth it. wait til you've got time.
Th oil pump will only pump oil when the engine is running. Otherwise you'd get oil all in the manifold everytime you turned the throttle when the engine was off. The engine spinning powers the pump. The manual does tell you how to bleed to bleed and also how to prime the oil line. You really should read the manual when your doing the work or you're going to come un stuck.
When you start the engine for the first time you need the oil pump cover off. You hold the pump open fully with your hand when your first start the engine and let it idle with the pump open full for a little to prime the line and once it start smoking alot you know oil is being supplied to the engine.
Thanks andy have been using the manual aswell just werent too sure if there was a better way of doing it where u get oil to it instantly.am in no rush to get it back together as the weathers still a bit rough and prefer to drive the warm car in this sort of weather.just finished painting the engine cases with some vht and reffited the top engine mount while I was there.
Sorry dont know why its put a link to talk talk in there lol

Could anyone tell me asap if these cables are the right way round as the haynes isnt very clear but says they needed to be adjusted equally.the only way I can get it to line up with the notch is by adjusting number 1 nearly all the way out and number two nearly all the way in and its still ever so slightly out
Thanks
Managed to get it all back together today but now it wont start.it will fire for 2-3 seconds and then cut out.if you attempt to give it any throttle it makes a boggy sound and cuts out.was kicking it over for about 2o mins have tried 2 new spark plugs that I had spare wuth no luck.can I try easy start In the air box on a freshly rebuilt engine or petrol In the spark plug hole
check your air box rubber that goes onto your carb if that is on properly, also make sure that when you put on your carb (its a pain in the ass sometimes) that the inlet manifold didnt crack or split. and clean the carb i you didnt alredy
check that your igntion switch is working correctly pal..had this issue with mine when i first got it back on the road. it would fire for about 1 sec and die..ended up replacing and started ok after that-except dodgy kill switch lol
petrol in the barrel normally helps too and dont even touch the throttle- just manage the revs with choke for 1st min of running :p let us know how you get on...post a video :p
Will try that tonight aswell have got a spare switch I could wire in to make it a kill switch but was working fine before.are they normally hard to start after a rebuild for the first time.it seems to fire revs go up a bit then it dies but I cant set the tick over up until it starts on the replacement carb I did clean the carb prior to fitting it a while ago but its been sitting there for a while on the bike.whats the shelf life on petrol as its been sitting in the tank while its been off the road I also added some redex to the tank before it broke down.
empty the tank pal- none of that redex rubbish! fresh petrol - took mine some minutes to start -also couldnt get ticking over correctly for about 30 mins after running - new parts will be very tight etc.
Looks like another busy night for me then lol.will drain the tank and the carb refill with fresh stuff and also put some down the head aswell.its got loads more compression than it used to have wore me out kicking it over last night will also check I havent missed anything obvious that sebamax suggested just wanna start using it again now
just keep at it pal...make sure you video when you get it started :p dont try and rev it when started- just keep it very light and adjust your choke etc. I remember the big smile i had when i eventually got mine started
Carb was clean when I fitted but it has been sitting for a few weeks now.am going to try some fresh petrol tomorrow as the stuff inbthe tank is probably around 7 weeks old now and mixed with redex.theres no obvious air leaks but cant keep it running long enough to spray anything around the usual areas main jet for carb is correct.air screw is out 1.5 turns.was kicking it over again tonight and does seem to be getting slightly better and running for a few seconds longer.cant setup the tick over screw though till I can get it running
Why is there redex in there? 7 weeks isnt too bad for petrol but worth refreshing and getting the red ex out. Can you do us a video of it with clear sound?
After draining petrol out of carb and tank filling with fresh fuel and some down the head it started up and is ticking over fine.i have noticed though when pulling the throttle slightly the powervalve is turning clockwise is this normal as I thought it would turn anti clock wise so the whole lined up on full throttle.when I first turn ignition on it goes clockwise and then anti clockwise to the open position. When I start it it turns clockwise and stays there but when throttle is turned slightly it turns clockwise.dont want it to hit the piston again.

Just rebuilt my topend today and also having this problem, can't really think of anything other than broken servo but hopefuly someone knows
Might just pin it open for know as last thing I want to happen is for it to turn too far and hit piston unless were both doing something wrong
The fact we both have the exact same problem, logicly makes me think we both did the same thing wrong rather than both servo's failing in the same way at the same time
Not a betting man myself, but don't like those odd's lol
