found a dt for sale at a decent price but too far away for me to go there just to take a look. so i bought it and will have the courier pick it up. it was his girlfriend that i spoke to and transfered the money she was waiting for him to get back from work to get the adress, that was 3 hours ago, now i get no reply and no answer, when should i start getting worried?
i blew my dt up ... but i fixed it.... Then i crashed it.... but i didnt fix it right and 2 scouser's come in the middle of the night and left me with a working bike
its all good. she was putting kids to sleep and had her phone on silent. she is quiet funny and knows thing or 2 bout dts. but still lil dodgy coz i told my gf to text her to say that she wants to come and have look at the bike and she texted her back saying how its all good for the mot etc and im like wtf. it was strange as earlier she wanted to put the money back into my account as she agreed to a price when her boyfriend didnt . hopefully it is all good now but cannot be sure untill the bike is picked up
so take it you have all the relivant details such as name address .
just in case it all go.s tits up keep details and save everything .
take screen shots of any adverts or pictures - screen shots of any messages or emails or payment recipts .
keep logs of calls and take notes of what was said .
search the persons name on facebook or if known take screen shots of profile and any details
you do know how to take screen shots on pc ? use free programs such as fraps or just hit [print scr] then go to paint and hit [paste] then [save as ] .

she ****ed me up anyway. well it was not my money im only doing work on the bike but still is less profit for me. as she gave the courier some messed up dt that looks like a spares bike and tries to play it off that this is the bike i have bought, and since i have no proof of the telling me which bike it was that i was buying the police nor anyone else can help ;/

i did get a bike just not the one i paid for. i got a different dtr. and i tried everything recording phone calls etc but she wnt admit to it. lesson learned , well hoping that it does run so it wnt be as much as a loss. usually the ooff road dts are about 350 anyway so if this one runs it should be ok, well i does need more than the other dts need
Get some pictures up, im interested and does it have matching frame numbers to the v5 ?

it has no numbers or v5. the one i paid for was meant to have the numbers there. bought another today a non runer but the numbers there for 185 quid not 350 if you know what i mean. i do have a 2003 frame so i can build it up providing everything is there engine wise so i can get that running
Nice start a project thread get some pics and any update on the stolen one ?

How frustrating. Unfortunately that sounds like the plan all along to mug you mate. Very annoying. I'd be very tempted in reporting them to the police. That is not on!.
Find out where they live, nice big key down each side of their car, then throw the DT's frame straight through the windscreen. Don't do the DT frame bit if you don't want them to know it was you, lol.
I wouldnt do that dread m8 as al their gona do is take the bike from him and not get any thing back just go in thebank and try do a charge back then u can keep the bike and money but it al depends on how you paid tbh
The main requirement for getting your money back through chargeback is evidence that there's been a breach of contract.
Time limit There is a time limit on chargeback claims - typically 120 days - which starts from the day you become aware of a problem. There is also an overall cut off point of 540 days for Visa chargeback. Therefore, your deadline for requesting a chargeback is 120 days from discovering you have a problem, or 540 days from the transaction date, whichever comes first.
Shop/online purchase In the case of tangible goods that you've purchased from a high street shop or an online retailer, the time limit on chargeback would start from the day you receive your items.
they cannot be used in normal transactions between say me and you(private sales)..gotta be a merchant seller
well the courier knows where they live, get down there and kick some arse and ask for money, at least they will know that you know where they live. people cant expect to get away ripping people off so when one turns up on the doorstep, they have two choices, pay up or take the consequences
ok well no news on my stolen dtx. this one came in today its completly messed up, dont know if it runs as there is no cdi or a kicker, it has a r/h cover of a re/x without the kicker. but the engine numbers are present. im tempted to call the police and tell them that i bought a bike and i was told the engine and frame numbers are there, now when i recieved the bike it looks like a stolen bike which had the vin removed but engine numbers are there so they can track it through dvla to see if it was reported stolen, the police would probably seize it but there is a chance that we could get the money back for it as i can prove that i did buy it off this person and they can get done for handling stolen goods
the police would maybe take the bike details then tell you that you can not sell or move the bike untill they get back to you with any details could be months .. if they find its stolen they will spend more time trying to get a conviction and could not give a toss if you get your money back or not .
the other person may just say they sold it to you as sold as seen and you knew totaly what you was buying and that they also bought the bike online so no one will realy be arrested and still you will not get your money back ..
so prior to buying did you store and save any messages sent or recived ? have you got a pic of the advert or the bike you thought you was getting ? how did you pay ? do you have any paper work or proof they said the bike was better than it is ?
if I was you then if you did not pay stupid money for the bike clean up what you can and sell it on or sell on parts to the value of what you paid to make back your money paid and learn for this deal when it comes to next buying a bike .
if I buy from anywhere online I always copy and save the pics from the advert along with any other details or messages to save just in case something go.s wrong or if it turns out to be a ringer or stolen then the copys and pics will back up that you had no idea or did not infact steal or ring it ..
like so ..
.hit [print scr ] then go streight to paint and hit paste instant copy of the advert see if I was to buy this bike I have proof of advert in case the seller deletes advert
or you can download free programs such as fraps to take screen shots
IF the bike has been registered I can do I an experian auto check using the engine number
This will bring up reg an frame number but only if it has been road registered
You should take the other back it's too easy for them when your on the end of a phone it would be a bit different if u turned up at the house an asked politely for a refund an if no luck give em it through their lounge window
ok MDK i have messages when i first enquierd about the bike she sent me the parcial frame number from the bike i was aparantly buying, than the rest was dealt throught the phone, it was paid for using bank transfer. she was messing us about saying this and that has happened and someone died and what not. than after the courier showed me a pictures about the bike she wasnt picking up only sending messages saying that thats the bike that i bought, than i called her when she finally picked up i had a long conversation with her boyfriend which told me that this is the bike i bought, than i said well where did i buy it from than took him 10min to decide that it was on gumtree when he has never advertised as on gumtree i was always checking the persons other listings plus when you pop in the persons number thats the only ad that pops out, and even tho it was deleted from gumtree the pics are still in google images. another thing when i asked why she sent me the numbers and now they are removed of the frame he said that the bike got stolen and than recovered and if i call the police i can confirm that so i go yyy why did she send me the frame numbers and he goes ooo they are of this bike and im like hold on why you send me frame numbers of a bike that has them removed anyway, he got mindfked and gave the phone to his girfriend once again and she goes 'i told you im not good with this stuff' he also said that he has alot of bikes and dts etc for sale.
so they did admit that it was a bike with the frame numbers even tho is a partial if its still in their possesion it can be proved that this is the bike that i have paid for
second he admited to having the bike advertised when he never did and the only one that was advertised it was the one i paid for as he said that he is busy and she always deals with this sort of thing, so it wasnt listed under different number or email.
if the engine turns out that it comes out from a stolen bike they are sorted for handling stolen goods as they admited to selling the bike to me in the first place,
she said she would be happy to send me a receipt, which i will call her and ask to send to me signed together with the engine numbers and than call the police as i would even have a written prof that this is the bike she gave me and i didnt steel it myself. maybe it is someones pride and joy and i wish someone would do the same instead of parting it out to cut their losses, that way maybe i could ever recover my stolen dt
