I hear your locks should represent 10% of the value of your bike. Small price to pay in my opinion.

Them Oxford chains are pants. Seen them on enough posts about stolen bikes. Get snipped like a knife through butter with a cheap pear of bolt crops.

They can still have it if they really wanted it. They'd just either burgle your house or come with hydraulic cutters, cut through any locks silently.

As for disc locks can pop the majority off with a flat head.

As for alarm can just get one of them rape alarm things with a bit of string a few people on here have them I think.

Someone was speaking about it a while ago. MDK I think it was, not too sure though.

Apparently almax can't be done by hydraulic cutters and if they burgle me at least I get to fight for it. I'm getting a wired alarm as well not no bodge job

yea but its all about putting people off I could cut through both of them qucker than it takes to put the locks on but that means noise and no 1 that's nicking sumik wants to start making a noise and most of the thieving little tramps having got a pot to pissss in never mind a decent set of bolt cutters. as for disc locks most of them £3 rubbish of ebay can be removed with out a screw driver just run the bike with the disc lock on and (9 out of 10 times the little pin will snap done it loads of time when av forgot about having 1 on and pulling away the best and strongest 1 i had was a £6 1 off ebay had it for years before I lost it and no screw driver could move it and it saved my bike a few times were peoples tried running off with it and as soon as the lock hits the front fork the wheel would just lock solid no pin braking

Oxford ones are the worst ones you can buy. Made out of cheese mate.

Also it's a KTM, they're in demand for parts, it wouldn't be your average joyriders after it. It'd be more sophisticated thieves that know a thing or two, hydraulic cutters are easy to get your hands on if you work / know people in the engineering industry.

There's a few people who have had their bikes lifted by hydraulic cutters. Just like using bolt crops, only hear the pinging of your chain snapping. One guy even lost his from under a open window where he was listening out for his bike being robbed.

Best bet is to get a nice insurance policy out so you can afford to replace it. All you can do really in this day and age.

Never said you were crazy.

But we live in a day and age where thieves have more rights than the property owners.

You don't half talk out of your arsé sometimes boxing......

You're slating one of the best bike security brands there is?

Well, i'll just say that the Oxford disc locks are some of the best you can get, strong as anything and all this bullshít about them being made out of cheese or being easy to get off, is a load of shíte.

Mine's been hammered to bits and is still solid as a rock, it's been on my mate's front disk and he forgot to attach the reminder and rode off with it on, clunk hit the fork leg and still solid as a rock! For the price of £6 that i paid, 2nd hand, 2 years ago, i certainly wouldn't say they're made of cheese rofl.

thieves can be very determined, a guy across the road from me had his crf 450 pinched from his shed

the shed was locked and the bike had two chains on it, he said it looked like they dragged it out front

and cut the locks. Police caught two 14 year olds pushing it down the road at 3 am lucky for him hey :P

alarm+trackers are the way foward

all you can legaly do against the tool wielding thief

is phone the police while he runs off with your pride and joy

or the police will be more intrested in arresting you, sad but true

I'm speaking from what I've seen and heard from people who have had their bikes stolen. You won't be saying that about Oxford when you hear a ping at 3AM and some scrotes are on their way up the road with your bike... no

Best way to keep your bike safe is do all you can to slow bike thieves down, I've learned if they want it bad enough they'll take it, so do whatever you can to keep them safe! I personally have kept all my bikes in the house, although the odd few have been took, Ktm got took from in the van, just about to go out when we was locked in the house while they took it! I got the door open chased afterwards then had a knife put to me, got the bike back 2 weeks later tho, fu.cked engine, susspension and exhaust packing didn't exists, pit bike from the shed, seen the ass wheeling down the street when the back wheel bearing gave in, went over done a nice bit of justice then left him there

Got to admit I can't really see the point in paying loads for a lock, wouldn't take long to get through that almax chain with a bit of heat, minute with an oxy acetylene torch and you're off. Saying that do need to get a better lock and your average chav most likely isn't going to have access to something like that but still

That's it though isn't it. If they want it they'll take it.

But if your bike has two disc locks on. An alarm and a chain and they just want a joy ride then they are not likely to get the torch out to cut through the chain.

I mean maybe for a brand new Yamaha R1. But unlikely for a DT125. Possibly for a KTM mind you. But he has a decent lock and that should put people off.
