Firstly, so glad to find this forum. I've had plenty of help from people already.. not ashamed! Heh.
Anyhoo, I'm leaking water from my cover, despite the gasket being there also. I have replaced both the clutch cover and water pump cover along with a genuine Yamaha gasket. I do have an o-ring too weather it's the correct one, I don't know.
Any ideas what could be the problem and what I can do to prevent this?
if the cover and gaskets are all new and ok you should have a good seal ... are you sure the water is not leaking at another point and running/dripping to that area ?
try totaly drying of all the cover /case and pipe then cover with tissue paper all the way up to the rad to try and locate the point of the leak ?
I remeber when mine was leaking its was the main bolt to drain the water the washer was dirty try replacing that and double check the little o ring as i split a brand new 1 once
Sorry, I didn't know anybody had replied. The water pump cover is second-hand, however the clutch cover is new. It appears to have a good surface, flat.
What about the o-ring, how big does this need to be? Is it thick or thin - certain size?
Yamahayz125 - The bolt and washer is brand new from Yamaha. (Along with every other engine screw/bolt, heh).
You want to chuck all those Yamaha bolts into the bin mate. Truat me on this one more trouble than they're worth. Go to your local fixings and get yourself a fixings tray ad an assortment of stainless steel bolts.
Or grab them off ebay. All different sizes of M6 mate. Worse thing ever using yamaha bolts.
The o rings are standard size. I've just chucked whatever i could find into there always been fine for me.
