Is there a rubber protector around the tank?

Hi guys. I've looked at the parts breakdown, but it doesn't show what I'm looking for. I'm sure I've seen some tanks with a rubber trim that goes around the pressed edge of the tank. It looks like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170619882494?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_2749wt_1190 Is this something that came on certain bikes, or has it been added after?

I know they're on A DTRE can't remember on the DTR I don't recall it.

It's not rubber anyway it's metal sheathed in PVC

Yeah, it's rubber on the outside and then it has the metal running through so it can be bent in to shapes.

You can get metre lengths in ebay for around £3 delivered. Copy and paste the ebay listing from my first post, that's the stuff. I was sure I'd seen it on tanks. Usually that part of the tank closest to the handlebars gets chipped, the other bits further around can get rusty and flakey at the bottom.
