I had the Lancia Beta Saloon Cal, 2.0 twin cam same engine as the Fiat 131, I nearly bought a left hooker Delta before the RX300 back in 08 but couldn't get the bloke to drop his price enough

remember always seeing them lancia's around in 90's -never see them anymore- very rapid i believe? never had priviledge to go in or drive one!

Yeah love new vauxhall range at present- and also ford-seeing as i still have 07 focus..The GTC is very rapid for what it is..not soo much as a bang but more gradual- i used to love the surge of old turbos when coming on boost and hearing all that lovely noise- not so much with these new turbos.

Aye there was two types of Beta, the saloon which I had, aimed more for comfort and speed, then there was the Beta coupe, fast as fook, unfortunately bodywork, especially the baulkhead rusting let them down, the Lancia used to get me from Derby Markeaton island to Ashbourne airodrome ind est in ten minutes, popeye would start at 7.25a.m  I'd set off and clock in at 7.35am

Ain't that just so mate. They've used modern technology to 'smooth' off the power curve.

It's like the Old Powervalve scenario on a two stroke. The new turbos are like a servo assisted DT. Do you run without it and have this insane extremity between boost lag and coming on strong. Or do you have the servo and power through the Rev Range.

I know for a Toy Car what one I'd have. Fiat Punto GT 1997 was a prime example of this. No power until boost came on but when it came on it was such a smile across your face lmao.

I had an RS turbo as 19, Renault 5 Turbo, then went onto an R32 skyline twin turbo, got some points so calmed down and got a Metro GTI, was rapid and 128bhp! Haha. then just the usually lot, an old sierra, a granada, 206 gti, and now a 206 1.4

The Fords kicked arse back in the 70's and 80's, I had 2 mark 1 capris, a mark 2 capri, a mark 3 Cortina 2l gt, and a Granada 3.0 GXL, Vauxhall at the time had the Firenza 2.3 and the Opel Manta and the Monza, my RS2000 rinsed (as my lad says) my mates Firenza pretty much each night when we working up at ICI Tunstead quarry up in Buxton. Funnily enough my lad was talking last night that he wants to get himself an old school mark 1 fiesta, then gradually change it to an XR2/XR2i when he's saved up enough.

I remember when the Renault 5 turbo first came out, my mate was a salesman at GT cars in Derby, and he could pretty much take home any car he wanted, come Saturday we'd be clubbing in Derby till 2 am then we'd fly down to London for 3 and caryy on clubbing till the early hours, They were rapid as fook, another car he often took out was the Gordino, another nice car, Renault 17 iirc

My first car was an MG1100 twin carb, at 17, when I came out my time, and started working on the power stations I bought an XJ6 2.8 Jag, not bad for a 21 year old lad, lol

Nice car the Elan Enny, I remember coming back from seeing my mucker in Leicester nick, and taking the Loughborough way back, talk about traffic lights every mile or so, at the time I had an old 63 MG Midget, it was only an 1100 but the gear box wasn't synchromeshed in first gear, anyroad, stopped at traffic lights a Lotus Europa pulls up alongside giving it the licks, lights went green we both nodded and screamed off, I had him no problem but his top end got the better of me, straight up to another set of red lights, must have done him about 4 times then we just parted ways, him screaming off into the sunset lol
