Hi there, got my dt in bits cos I am trying to workk out the weather or not the servo works. The wiring loom is a total mess but pretty much everything is connected up as it should be. I understand that when you turn the key in the ignition, the YPVS does a cleaning cycle. Mine doesn't do that at all. Im now left to believe that the ypvs servo isn't working at all. Do these things brake so easily? I am mean the bike is only 8 years old!

Also do they break easily? In what context. If the bikes in bits and wiring loom is a mess then somebody could have damaged it. If its left on the bike and never touched then no. They last a good while. But everything in the end will break.
Okay thanks @JesseDT. Btw I'm GPKphotography from instagram! ;) haha! I have just removed all of the old connectors and replaces with brand new bullets. I think the servo motor has gone. Which I will say is surprising but hey ho.
Ahhh I thought your DT looked familiar! haha Good luck with the servo mate, Im surprised it's gone tbh... There's loads on eBay though, shouldn't be too expensive to fix
My old servo packed up, the teeth of the plastic cogs sheared and whilst hitting the power band it would fluctuate like crazy and just not ride properly or go into the band.
Good 'ol Yammy charge 350 quid for a new'un, yeah right, got mine for £25.
Actually Enny there was a german place on Ebay flogging brand spanker 3 wire servo's for £70 posted, I got mesen a couple, not sure if they still do them, just need the rubber cover was all.
Okay all good news! The servo is in good working condition! :D I have been testing it with a multi metre and a 12v 4a battery and its in good working order! The 5 wires that run to it are also good! The issue now lies with the power source. I am currently charging my super flat battery in the hopes that this will sort the issue out. If not I don't know where to go! I have been re-wiring the bike today as the wires were chopped and changed and extremely messy! I am slightly suspicious as the cables for the pulley housing were extremely tight. Could this have caused the YPVS not to work? They're so tight that one of them is badly frayed and will need to be replaced before I get the bike running again! Cheers, T.J
any one have any ideas of what voltage is going in to the servo motor ? also whats wires are the + AND - on it ? only ask is there could be a way to test it of the bike to eliminate loom or cdi problems
