Modified Snorkel
Permalink

So I was in my Local Yammy on the weekend And he was asking how the build is going and how the bike is setup. I said that I did a plug chop and the plug is a lovely golden brown with a 300 main jet. To which he replied that's rather large. Is the snorkel out?

At the moment it is and the plug is a lovely colour I can't be arsed to adjust it. But he said take the old DT snorkel. Stubby it and remove the spline down the middle and smooth it off. He said the problem about not running a snorkel is you get disrupted air flow which impedes performance.

Anyway what are peoples thoughs on this. He's a 20+ year two stroke builder enthuiast and the Yamaha mechanic that does most of the work on the bikes there. Plus owns plenty of two smokes and a TZ track bike.

I can see this being a middle man between no snorkel and with it in. I do have a spare snorkel So i modified it to have a look.

Still want to just smooth over the edges and down the middle a bit.  But need some better tools for that.

I'll not any benefits in this thread.

I would certainly give it a go atleast. I am trying to get my set up right.

I am getting spooge out the end can even after running 210 jet with needle second notch from top, no snorkel full Dep system.

I would be interested in trying this too.

The bike is running great eccept when I rag it in the power band, when I shift up there is a bit off a flat spot in picking back up into the power band in next gear if you get me, don't know if I am expecting to much but it seemed to hold power better before without a flat spot, deffo some tinkering needed but it could be an air flow problem with the symptoms. Such as no snorkel

Standard jetting is 240 main jet.

Obviously standard for a DTRE is 210 but dtr's are 240.

Yeah thats what I mean should have said standard jet, I have got a 240 one sitting, but whats the point of upjetting if you are already running rich? It might be oil from the build but that should be well gone after 490 miles surely.
