Watch out for that DT Danny

Took my bike for an MOT today, all was well before I got there then DT Danny turned up and my chain siezed, both sprockets worn and my bloody numberplate shrunk!

Plus his bike sounds better than mine!

Peter at the MOT place offered to do my chain and sprockets and after hearing yours - I'll get the DEP ordered and he can do that as well. He only lives a few houses down from my Mum in Haydock.

Chain and sprockets aren't as easy as fitting a pipe.

You're going to get shafted by mechanic labour if you can't do the basics. Do you ever change your coolant / gearbox oil? 2 Strokes are high maintenance, I wouldn't buy one with no mechanical knowledge...

If I wanted to do everything myself, I'd have become a mechanic. I have far better things to be doing with my time than fixing bikes. I don't try to fix my car when that goes wrong, I fail to see what the difference is with a bike.

Oi!!!!!!!!!!!furious you're on a forum full of people who love nothing better than tinkering around with bikes, show some respect...

Unless you make more than the £40-70/hr most mescamics charge, i'm sure you have nothing better to do.

Also a well maintained bike, is a safer bike.

Show some respect - are you serious?

If people like mucking around with bikes, that's fine - I actually prefer riding them. If the forum prevents people posting who don't like pulling a bike to bits, then I'll **** off.

For your information Victor, I am 42 years old and run a business and have very little spare time, if I want to spend my hard earned money on a mechanic - I will.

How can you fail to see how disrespectful it is to say you have far better things to do with your time, when it's a lot of peoples passion/hobby?

Would you see it as respectful if i came to the location/website of your business saying it's a waste of time?

Being 42 i would have thought you would be able to respond better to criticism/suggestion

Sorry for trying to save you a few bob, won't happen again. Feel free to throw your hard earned money away

But its not MY hobby - how is that being disrespectful? I come on here and ask advice when I want to play around with something - I would suggest that IS showing respect to the people who have more knowledge than me.

This isn't your website, its a forum and its posted in the general chat section - it would be a completely different matter if I was being disrespectful in a specific section related to a particular repair.

AND I didnt say it was a waste of time - I said it was a waste of MY time. Learn to read.

Surely it's a forum for enthusiasts. Some like to ride, some like to tinker and ride, some just like to tinker and because of that never get the chance to ride. Some people don't have mechanical skill, but still like to ride. They know that if something goes wrong, they'll have to pay to fix it and they're happy to do so. But this forum is surely for everyone?

it is for everyone regardless of they own or don't own... tinker or not... the end!

unless you come here just to sell your goods... then you won't be around for very long lol
