german 165ccm barrel: my new purchase
Permalink

after many months of contemplating buying the german 185ccm barrel from

www.nopitz.de i came across a second hand 165ccm barrel bored and ported by the german company

on the german ebay site at half the price they are charging.

the barrel is a standard 4fu00 and looks to have been resleeved with a steel liner.it has also been rebored

at some point and is on a 66.5mm piston atm taking it to 176cc.

it also looks to have quite a bit of porting done to the transfer ports, the powervalve

has also had quite a good bit taken off.

the head that came with the barrel is the athena head, this has the o-ring type gasket and a

total different squish band over the standard heads.

anyway heres some pics for you all to masturb.... erm look at.

Very nice.

Let's have a look at thos transfer ports.

That's really bizzare. They took a Nikasil plated barrel and put a steel liner in it. I've heard about them doing this to Aprilia's. Clever. Although the port angles are different on the 4FU. But very interesting.

Very interesting indeed, i'm sure you'll get some very nice power gains from that setup, with the o-ring athena head for better squish aswell as the aggressive ported barrel! Defo worth it if you got it at a fraction of the price.

I'm loving all the individual choices we're making on tuning, variety is the spice of life for sure :)

Will be sending my barrel off in the next few months to my tuner friend in Porto land :) well fooking excited.

i will upload more pics later tonight as photobucket is being tardy.

this barrel is going on a ktm lc2 bottom end i have had lying around gathering dust for a long while.

i stripped the bottom end when i first purchased the engine and the cases was pretty well matched on the inside.

also the bottom end has been sanded to a smooth finish and will be polished nearer to completion, thanks to my lads(cheap child labour).

im also looking at fitting an uprated crank/conrod and forged piston at some point so any links to to these would be much appreciated.

Nice that, haven't seen that in years,  they did a 185cc that apparently could be made to 200cc
