You tried bump starting it? First thing I do before walking home if it doesn't start is bump it. Only walked mine home about three times.
Chain and sprockets went, sent chain off in the middle of a corner and wrapped around my back wheel. And clutch cable went, ran with it in N bump it in first and rode home with no clutch cable. Then my oil pump failed and blew my engine. Mainly the topend, but the bearings shot in the bottom end in the end. :( Still managed to fire it up and sail home haha.
yeah Luke know wot ur sayin mate Last December I had piston ring decide to jump into exhaust port at 60 on bypass , scary **** but I survived to push it home ! Now no spark at all just got a new coil 4 it today n its pourin down ere in Derbyshire :( Av to try it Saturday as workin thru day wot a downer eh Thanks 4 ur input av been riding bikes 30 yrs so bump was my first thought but no go ...
right goin to fit coil shortly also bought a jetski type water proof plug cap shud keep rain out eh !

had spark so now you know coil is ok also other parts of electrics are working as you did have it spark untill you touched ignition maybe that could be the problem ?
try to by pass the ignition or remove it and temp wire the bike up like a theif would now in some cases you will not get lights ect when wired up but it should start .
I say this as I once bought a tzr and the last owner spent months and lots parts and changing things and the only thing he never looked at was key ignition as everything worked lights ect .
but it was first thing I looked at and there was 2 crimped broken wires right at the base where a bit of tin/metal bends over the wires soldierd them and boom fixed .
some times it can work to treat the bike like a nicked one unplug and take away everything a theif would for field use lights -clocks- ignition -kill- switch-stand switch- ect ect so it has only basic electric system if it then works slowly add back or plug back in one thing at a time till you find the faulty part.
ignition switch or kill switch fault pal :p did tell you to try them first though to be honest
Killswitch wouldn't stop it sparking altogether though, will it? Never had that problem. Probably more on the ignition switch side of things, or a loose connection somewhere.
unplug the connectors for the kill switch- then join the 2 together so - see if you get spark then? also unplug the ignition and you can do the same with that...cant remmber which colour leads you connect on ignition-
If you have SM wheels, the water shouldn't get into the HT lead, anyway. Only times I ever got my HT lead wet in the rain was on a DTR setup. Soon as I got my SM setup it never happened again. Did over 1,000 miles on SM wheels as well.
if I connect ignition as you say but get wrong wires will it blow fuse ??
Does anyone know which wires to join to bypass ignition 4 now ? is it just a matter of unplugging ignition cable n then joinin pins in lower half of block ??

can anyone tell me best way to join terminals to temporarily bypass kill switch and same wiv ignition ? just a wire bridge ? but needs to be secure so don't short out im guessin , as far as I understand on ignition need to bridge red(live in) and brown (power out) also 2 black wires as I don't want to cut the wires whats best way ??

don't understand where I can get a secure wire bridge on blocks without em comin off while I test 4 spark ? am I right in thinkin just disconnect ignition block n then join em but where n how inside the block or from bottom of block where wires go into block ??
yes disocnnect the ignition block and use any old wire to put into the connector block -should sit ok whilst you try to see if spark there- make sure you do same for kill switch too -do em all together!

hopefully it might stop raining today n im gonna bridge my wiring av had a look at online manual to double check which wires are which
So hope this works as bike shop wants £72 per hour fault findin but that includes v a t whooopy doo , guess wot I told em ? politely ..
the clutch lever electrical cut out thing does that just want wires joined together like s/ stand cut out switch ?? as im removing all unnecessary crap off the bike

its frustrating pal i know and many others have been there too mate. I had rebuilt my engine and and bike and had the issue- should have seen me stressing!! wife had to get out of house!!!
once you bridge those wires and the bike sparks/starts then you know where to go from then on in... just do what me and Slob said..short the ignition and the kill switch so that all are live.
Sweet Dread cheers as 4 the clutch wire has two wires runnin down into connector block can I so same as with sidestand wires ?? as in join em together ???
If you are handy with a soldering iron, cut and solder even the the kill switch wires and the reinstate them afterwards so you can be 100% sure they are not at fault.
Well heres the update :(
So far ive isolated the ignition & the kill switch still no spark !
while I was readin the online manual for the dtre /x I came across a test section for ignition / generator call it wotever
the thing is it tells you how to test SOURCE COIL RESISTANCE which I did
should be between 192-288 mine read 1. on meter or known as bugger all where as pick up coil reads within spec at 280
the specs say 280-420 ohms
so now what
the story continues SADLY
mite be getting to root of problem !

Hi its me again ! getting to be a habit is this :) well after testin this source coil (what is it ? ) and getting no reading at all I took left casing off to look behind it seems sensible as that's where these "source coil" wires bugger off to ! took a pic that shows a bolt that came though casin n out right over some wires that go to the windings? wotever you call em bolt I used was way too long it seems tho where it comes through is to the pick up coil which as far as resistance tests it was in spec at 280 so no damage it seems ! but ive took a pic of it which bit has failed ?? anyone ???
