Where to buy pink fork gaiters
Permalink

Hi all, as the title suggests I'm having a lot of trouble finding the pink fork gaiters I need for my 1991 colour scheme, looks as though there isn't much demand for pink fork gaiters nowadays, who'd have thought it lol.

Anyway, its going to be a full restoration so I need to find these things new, not used.

Any pointers on where I can buy these would be much appreciated.

Daystar did do them but have discontinued them, there maybe someone still stocking them somewhere. Cemoto is another possible lead.

Unfortunately Yamaha's prices are only ok if you're a millionaire.

Thanks for the effort but neither are the correct size.

almost any search for yamaha dt 125 r I do and this pic pops up in search this guy looks so gey ...lol

ok back on topic .  realy hard to find any that match the kind of color and if you do they always wrong size ..

maybe keep a eye on full fork sales thats where you find old unwanted rare color gaiters like so  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-DT125R-DT-125-R-front-forks-yokes-/130874185199?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item1e78b595ef

now they look dirty  but you be shocked at how clean they can become with something as simple as petrol on a rag .  and maybe the last thing the sell would think of is selling the gaiters alone but worth a try .

be good if you could turn them inside out be like new I bet if its possible [ never tried ] .

Yeah, I don't rate that chaps bike either, this supermoto DT is my cup of tea, looks correct for the era like a late 80's YZ.

Anyways, like you I'm not finding any in the right size either, surely they are available somewhere!

I'm going to try to hold out for new if I can being as it's going to be a full resto, nice idea though and thanks for the suggestion:)

yeah its always gone be hard to find those rare little things that can finish a bike to how it should be the red and whites are easy . the pink and whites not so easy as after that year model most changed the pink parts and binned them and it was not a massivly used color or very sought after for bikes as men+pink+bikes = gey or some think or thought lol .

my self I loved that year and color had the dtr and pw 50 .

other options are to search any bikes of any years that may have used pink even some quads or trikes you could get lucky and finde something that may fit and match .

It's a forgotten colour scheme I think, it looks good in my opinion too and is unmistakably from that period. Also, as you've mentioned it's a difficult resto to complete, I have many of the hard to find parts but these gaiters and one of the stickers are very difficult to find:(
Here's some of what I've acquired so far, all NOS.

Pound to a penny Scrim can put you on to the original stickers for that model. I think my 89 White bike originally started off like that.

He's been mega helpful but I think a miracle is what's required to get the right scoop decal and the gaiters by the looks of things.

Its the 1991 colour scheme mate.

Darren had the bright idea of having the side panel decal I'm missing reproduced from the side I have, it's basically a mirror image aside from the 125R part. The scoop decal is quite different though unfortunately.
