THATS THE VIN

anyone knows where to check it apart from yodi he charges like 23 quid which is way overpriced in my opinion for a hpi check

TBF he is the only guy I can find to do HPI's and get the registrations. Someone else was mentioned that worked for the DVLA (IIRC)

Isn't the WR450 a off-road bike anyway? So wouldn't have a reg unless it was put on the road at some stage.

You could try going to your local cop station and say you're planning on buying a motorbike and wondering if it's stolen. Might check their system, I've never done it though.

coppers would give you nothing or any help unless they pull you at side of road or wana nick you on a field ..

sure there was one or two on here who did or can get the vin checked .. tbh yodi has been doing it for years and is very well know throu tons of bike sites or forums and his charge is not all that big for what it can save you in the long run .

That's an exaggeration lmao. That's 50 bikes.

Possible but I'd rather spend £1000 on bikes I didn't buy than £2000 on a stolen or outstanding finance bike.

If you do find one they'll charge near or equal to what he charges. Just spend the £ and leave it at that. :|

No such thing as a free lunch.

like I say he has been doing this for years and is trusted .

you may come across some that say they can do it but only rip you off

many bike buyers always do a full hpi on bikes when buying its to cover your ass and spending that £20 or £1000 over time can and will save you much more long term also having that hpi print out as history can be added value to any bike or frame abd can be made back or doubled on each sale .

I would be happy for any seller to add £30 to the price if it came with a good trusted hpi printout

Forgot where I read it, but some guy said MOT stations can see vehicle HPI history in terms of crash damage. Was a guy who took his bike for an MOT and then the station said its been crashed before and did a very thorough check of the bike.

many garages -mot - or parts shops can do the same I think they have some sort of hpi traders/dealers accounts .

not sure what you need or how much it would cost for such a account but would come in very handy

You cannot get the reg number from the vin number with a hpi check anyway.......... That's why people pay that dude the cash so they can get the reg number not for a hpi check,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yep I guess he is the only one. I used to do it through my local garage before. Anyway that 450 turned out not to be on the register guessing it's nicked

If you want a reg number from a frame number contact Paul Dawkins on the Yamaha DT Club forum, he charges a fiver. If the bike is UK registered he will get you the reg number.

I do hpi checks at work using the reg or the frame number but if the bike has not been on the road then it won't be on the data base because the Dvla etc won't have any records for it
This doesn't necessarily mean that it's stolen
If it's on the database to begin with an is stolen it will have a stolen marker on it
If it's not road registered then it won't exist ( you won't be able to get the reg number by searching the frame number as there is no record of it to begin with

Some people don't understand how it works

Or our man Dan28 above can get you a reg from the frame number as long as the bike has been registered in the UK with DVLA. How much do you charge Dan ?

 I don't charge anything

i ve already checked this one for him along with many others the frame number doesn't bring anything up on experian auto check so this means the bike isn't registered with Dvla this is I what I was trying to explain in previous post

I can do an Experian gold check IF the vehicle is road registered (has been on the road at some point so has a had a reg plate in the past)
the check will bring up the registration an chassis number, number of previous owners etc
the check can be done using chassis number of registration

if the bike has never been road registered then checking the frame number wont find anything as it wont have ever been on the road so dvla will have no records for it
