Want to do some green laning never done off road b4 fancy having a go thought a dt a would be a good place to start + I like them used to have a dt50 when I was 16 many moons ago also would like to super moto it don't no if the wheel can be made interchangeable when ever you fancy swapping over for wot u want to use it for. I could go for something with a lot more power but don't need speed to have a laugh . I had more fun on my 50 Than I have had on any other bike

Yeah I really like the trx haven't really played on it yet only got it last November and it has just sat around nearly ready for mot just a few little jobs to be done . I've got some nice sounding carbon cans for it there a little beaten up but not worried how it looks for now as gona strip the whole thing and build it back up as a fighter

Aww you just missed out on a sale that would have been perfect for the job.

So the DT comes in a few flavours. The earlier ones (that have looked similar) are the Yamaha DT125LC's Mk1-3. Then in 1989 then changed over the DTR. And the in 2004 They swapped over to the DTRE and the DTX. There are of course the classic 1970's but i'm not sure how well they fair off road and whether a bike that old would want to go off road.

The DTX was the first Supermoto of the range. I sold some DTX hubs and some Excel rims. This would allow you to just be able to swap over the wheels and not worry about the brakes and everything else.

If you want to use it to go green laning then just go for the R/RE if you're not bothered about power. The RE's are arguably the easiest to derestrict. Most have already been done. I would go with normal wheels and maybe some Avon Distanzias. They're road tyres but I used to go green laning on them. Not brilliant off road and are better suited to on road.

Or maybe some continentals road knobbleys.

They're okay for off roading. A little heavier than your MX bike or the italians Aprilia RX125's and don't come with USD's unlike mine :D

I will b looking for the dtr early 90s I had a go on 1 back in 90 or 91 so it was quite new and really like it should of bought 1 back then but I had a rg125 then on finance . But looking at 125s past couple of weeks as my son has just turned 17 and he will be looking for a 125 as well to replace his gilera dna , he likes the dt as well . I found 1 on youtube that I really like got in touch with the guy and he put me on to the forum and he's is the best I've seen can think of his name il post it up after this 1 but his bike is white with red parts and supermotoed and thrown a lot of money at it

Thats the site administrators dt.

You should have a scroll through some of the projects on here. I love Seiki's video. It was pure inspiration to do mine. I love the attention to detail. But some people like Nev have gone the extra mile. From take. The shock apart and powdercoating the spring to finding exceptionally rare wheels.

I had an Aprilia rs50 and wanted the wheels off the Rs125 to fit to mine. I also put on wr250F upside down forks and a TZR 4DL engine. It's a lot faster and better handling now, albiet at the loss of the oem look. But mine got nicked and smashed up and when I got it back I decided I wanted a change.

But yeah have a scroll through some of the projects on here. Some people have gone to incredible lengths.

You could get a Gas Gas 300 or better. But you want a DT? Why not a DRZ?

DRZ is poo, rather have a DT.

p.s you wouldn't want a gas gas 300 for your first off road bike lmfao.

DRZ = About 80-90MPH with ease. DT about 70MPH 80 at a push. DT = high maintenance. DRZ = Low maintenance and bullet proof (as long as looked after and not spanked on the limiter for a long period) I know which I'd have.

But I'm on about a SM one, not the S model. The DRZ would be a pain off road, and it's heavy.

Lol!

My DT will do 80-90. You put as long as they're looked after. Yeah you look after a DT properly and it will go on and on. Someone on here is on 30K on original bore. If that's unreliable then I'd love to see reliable.

My DTR SM will do 80 (condition's permitting), and like Calum say's a properly looked after DT will go 20k+ plus miles without ever touching the engine apart from oil.

I'm sure the DRZ suffer's from electrical problems and like Mad say's 2stroke's are rising in value.

That's out of how many DT's on this site? One is irrelevant to the amount of others that need pistons changing every 10,000 miles or so...

Dizzers are terrible bikes, end of. I'm sure Scrin and Nath after 6+ top ends will back me up on this one. Heavy, weak and crud.

Give me a DT over a DRZ ANY DAY.

I dunno what you've been smoking but a DT is NOT high maintinance either?! Nor is a DRZ bulletproof. We're talking about a nice starter bike to introduce our new friend into the world of off road, you've reccomended so far a Gasser 300?!?! And a dizzer......hmm, and baring in mind the dizzer would be used off road, how the hell is it not going to be thrashed and rode really nice and gently??? You HAVE to ride those mo'floppers on or near the limiter whilst off road, they weigh a fooking ton! confuse

That's not the case. You said it yourself. Maintenance. If a DT is properly maintained then it will do well more than 10K miles. It's only advised to do a rebuild at top end. In theory there is no reason why you should. Provided that it's adequately cooled, fueled and oiled it'll go on until the bearings give way.

Lol enny. Well said.

Still waiting for that bike porn too! :D
