Absolutely nothing when the key is turned.H

Hi guys. I have had my 2003 DTR since the start of the year, but after sorting some rear frame rust and generally time getting away from me, I only got it back on the road last month. It has a new Motobatt battery. I have ridden it a handful of times, but I noticed on the last outing the light wasn't registering that it was in neutral, so when I'd pulled up at home and put the sidestand down, it would cut out. Now when I turn the ignition on I get nothing, not even a dash light. I charged the battery and then tried again, but nothing. I then got a tester and the battery shows 13.0 volts. I then just tried turning the key a few times and flicking the kill switch a few times and at one point it worked, but then went off again when I moved. I'm assuming it's a loose connection. I took the kill switch apart at the handlebar end and gave it a clean, but nothing. If there was a problem with the sidestand switch or neutral switch, would it give the same symptons, ie: no response when the ignition is switched on? Any other usual things to check?

I forgot to say that I'd checked the 2 fuses in the holder attached to battery wire. Cheers for your quick responses guys. My times at a premium with a new baby, but the nice weather is calling me out for a ride and it's a bummer when the bike doesn't work! I'll check the under seat wiring Scrim. Is it usually just located in this area? I thought I'd turn to experience before tearing the bike to bikes and ending up with an expensive new floor covering.

The soldered joint is under the very back of the tank where it meets the seat, where the loom splits to the regulator, plain red wire
