There is one on FB right now. But it's annoying, get all the chav's popping up saying they do 90MPH or asking how to make them faster.

Personally, I think if you don't add randomers you don't know or barely know on FB, there isn't a problem. But if your profile picture is of you DT and you accept any Tom, Dick or Harry on your friends, then you're asking for trouble.

You're more likely to get your bike stolen by riding it around your area then going home, or starting it in your back garden. Prepare for the theft with locks, alarms and what not and it's less likely to happen.

All the time I've been on FaceBook I've never revealed my address to anyone.

Tbf i've rode a dt that could get to 90 lol, just though... The last 2-3mph took about 6 seconds to achieve lol, it was my mates so i didn't mind red lining it as he's one of these wan**** that his mum and dad buy everything for, including a full rebuild after he thought he would put new oil in his bike, so put in a litre... Literally, didn't even drain the old oil out!!! Came round mine asking why his back brake doesn't work because its covered in oil!!!

If you reading this btw bud, dw i wont reveal your identity! He's on this forum lol

If I was that friend and read that, I'd be livid. More out of general principal of being friends I wouldn't rag his bike... Mummy and daddy paid for it or not. hmm

Took my running cbr 400 to mescamic, it was running but power dropped off after 80mph(was a rush all the way 130 before).

I had already Identified it wasn't firing on 1 cylinder and told him which one.

Told me he could have a look over the next few weeks in his spare time to keep cost down for me.

2 weeks later... He said he's stripped the carbs and the float vavle's look worn.

New ones £120 + 3 hours labor(45/hr) to install and put the bike back together.

At this point I'm already thinking wtf??? He then goes on to say I can't guarantee this is the only problem though and will fix the flat spot looool.

I was fuming by this point and told him to bring my bike back to me how it is ASAP.

He charged me £20 to drop it home with no fairing on or carbs/tank £45 labor for??? He also just remembered he changed the spark plugs and wanted another £30

Told him to take the plug's I'm not paying, why the fook would you change the plugs!!!!!!!!!!

Few days later when I'm putting it back together I notice I'm missing the carb fuel inlet, so got on the blower.

Too ashamed to knock on my door he left it on my bike seat that night.

Anyways I ended up buying a used set of carbs off ebay and the bike ran fine again.

Needless to say I started investing in my own tools and wouldn't dream of letting someone else touch my bike.

Rant over  aww

I take mine to my local Yamaha shop if I've purchased something from them and want them to fit, tyres etc. Or I just haven't got the tool(s) for the job. Been good to me, even had them clean my clutch plates. I stripped it all down to the clutch plates though, including the crank case. :)

Always been good to me. It's just some mechanics you have to watch. I watch most mechanic's working on my bikes.

Norfe stripped my engine all the way down, new bearings, seals and resprayed it. Everything cleaned and put back together. Top bloke. My engine cost me £400 or so going to Norfe. Been nothing but reliable ever since. Not walked it home once since. smilesmile Oh yeah, had a topend rebuild and rebore as well.

I recently took the DT in for its mot, it failed on a back light conector ( wasnt coming on) and a wheel bearing... 7 days later they had it fixed the guy said they soldered the wire to the bulb as it had a bad connection and it might break in the future.... charged me £45 labour + vat

got it home and the light isnt working.. opened up the tail light case and the guy had "soldered" it with insulation tape, later that day I ordered a replacment bulb holder for £3 of ebay.

It got it through its MOT and the guy did a leanent mot so I didnt see the point it raising hell. But it did teach me a lesson, from now on everything to do with that bike is to be done by me.

Oh dear, that is a shame :/ Not sure why he didn't do a proper job the first time. Never mind, it's good experience to do it yourself

Just watch them working on them. I'll NEVER leave a bike at a garage, unless they're well known and trusted to myself.

A week is kind of a long time. You're also covered to ride your bike back home from the MOT station regardless of the status of it.

If a mechanic is sloppy, don't let them near the bike again. I don't even let friends near my bikes with tools. Unless I believe they're competent and I've seen their working behaviours.
