I stopped watching crashes a few years ago.. can't stomach it anymore and feel like it's somehow a jynx(black cats magic).

Road saftey though... it will never be safe for biker's, get into off roading/track days!

thats crazy, im really glad im not into that speed thing. I avoid roads which are 60 ish, and my protective clothing probley costs just less than my DT. I like biking but not enough to tempt fate being silly. He must have been doing at least 70 there

Just seen this lads, he was doing 96mph on impact. No clue how the guy in the car "never saw the biker nor the car behind the biker" coming towards him! disbelief.......

Unfortunately these things happen. All you can do is ride as safely as possible and do all you can to be seen. I bought a white helmet last time i was buying and next time it will be fluorescent. I'm also gonna buy a fluorescent jacket next time i think too. When I first got my DT125 my parents asked me to wear a hi vis jacket and i did for a while. I did feel like a twonk when out with mates but who knows, there could have been a time it saved my life and i dont even know about it.

The other big thing has to be buying quality protective gear and ALWAYS wearing it. I used to sometimes just stick a hoody and jeans on and feel pretty stupid now.

Anyway, these things happen and are terrible but dont let it put you off, just do as his poor mother wants and take care and be as safe as you can, when riding or driving.

He was riding a 2001 Yamaha FJR1300. This is his bikepics account: www.bikepics.com/members/bcstudent/

These are the clocks on the above bike: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FJR1300-5JW-2001-2005-CLOCKS-/151401764490

Meaning at the time of impact he was hitting just under 100MPH.

Personally, I wouldn't be doing 100MPH at a junction. I wouldn't even do the speed limit (60) down there at a junction like that.

Shouldn't have been going 100, but even at 60 you wouldn't stop in time it would just be dependant on the fact the lower the speed increasing the chances that he would have survived

We all know he shouldn't have been doing 100 but this is a forum we share and discuss information, the main point being everyone shares their own opinions on the various topics

I dont want to offend anyone, i just shared my opinion but your right in a way maybe some things should be just left and not discussed further

His mother said in the video he loved speed and the whole point of the video is to tell riders to slow down and think of the consequences of speeding. And for drivers to look out for motorcyclists and to know it's hard to judge their speed.

Didn't you watch the video?

Of course i watched the video it doesn't make a difference what anyone says its all about the facts: he was speeding, the driver didn't see him, nothing more to add

It was more pointed at Victor tbh. His mum knows he was speeding. The coroner even said the speed was a factor in his death. And at the point of impact he was doing approximately 97MPH.

Do you have a point? Mine was very clear.

Did you even read my statement?

Yes, but the whole point of the video is to figure out what YOU would do in this situation.

It's a public forum about biking, obviously we will discuss it. If you don't like it, you don't have to click the link. :|

The whole purpose in the mother releasing this is to tell riders to slow down, she said it clearly in the video.

The guy who died would have known he was pushing it and accepted the risks. he rolled the dice and got a hard 6. That was unlucky, but he would have known it was a bad risk. All we can do is use the video to evaluate how we ride. I dont blame the guy, He made the choice that felt right to him, I think I and hopfully most of use would have made a different choice. I think its hard to judge people when by the vast majority of the UK population think we are taking unnecessary risks just from riding and they are right. If we had a crash, people would turn round to use and say its your own fault for being so vulnerable on a bike. you see how this judgment game works?

End of the day, we shouldnt judge and we should respect people in there choices.

His mum knew he was speeding. I'm sure she realises that if he wasnt there would have been a much greater chance of him surviving. We all* speed. We all get carried away at times and this is probably what happened to this guy. He got carried away having fun and the combination of that and the driver not seeing him resulted in his death.

His mum has decided to release the video and im sure she was made aware of the chance of people commenting on the speed. She wants to save lives and I dont doubt that she will. I'll be considering my speed and visibility alot more from now on. It all happened so quick and he didnt stand a chance. If people are commenting on the speed then its getting people talking and realising the danger. Making yourself visible helps alot but then so does not doing 100 through a junction with a car waiting to cross your carriage way.

Also bare in mind he had just come from a race meet-up. When I go to stuff like that I find myself riding at higher speeds etc.

Something I don't understand is, when I ride on a road like that.. where I can see a good few hundred yards up the road and I see a car on the other side of the road indicating. I know from biking for the 3 years that I've been going now that this guy/girl in the car is going to turn. Whether they do it now or after I've passed, I would always slow down to below the speed limit and cover the brakes because as we all now through countless crashes like this and plenty of adverts making people aware of bikes and junctions they will 75% of the time take the chance and go for the turn. Why the **** this guy was doing 96mph on a road like this is beyond me, if you've been riding long enough you should know that people in cars will always, ALWAYS take the piss. That's not to say he isn't to fault. I feel for the guy and I feel for his family and most of all I feel for the car driver because they now have this hanging over their head. Thinking they did something wrong when infact, if he was doing the speed limit they could have turned in good time and all would be okay. It pisses me off that bikes get a bad rep because of stuff like this. I'm on the fence I think.
